Yeah, just the warm up set. New set on today, will try harder next time :D .

Scrubbed in new set this morning, was I trying hard enough?

Do you like my commuter chicken strips?

You can lean over that much on a more road based tyre with better mileage/wet performance :)
But if you get 5k out of the rear you are doing well enough - they only last about 800-1000 miles a set for me

The use of chicken strips to gauge the abilities of a rider is extremely flawed....

Well its either how well you can go around a corner or how good can you wheelie, those are two standard measuring sticks.

Or how bad your form and body position are.

This is mostly true, depending on the roads. There aren't any roads that can take care of strips in Vancouver. In Victoria aka Vancouver Island, it's a different story, that's why I head over to the island often, I'm on it for the weekend actually. There are some roads here that are as good as a race track and you can certainly lean the bike all the way over. I still don't put a knee down though so there is room for more, but one does need to set some sort of limit on the street.

i changed over to bridgestone s20's (battalax) and did a track day at njmp on 6/30. tires felt great, (200/55). a little wider aspect than the 200/50 pirellis. I normally ran traction control at 4 / race mode with the supercorsa's, moved down to dtc 3 but the traction control still came on a lot. will try dtc at 2 next time. ebc is at 2.

Not trying to hi jack the thread but figure this would be the right place to ask since its about street tires.....
Looking for a set of tires for a long road trip. Don't wanna kill some nice tires. Have set my eyes on some CUPs but those will have too wait until after the trip.
So what are some recommended long trip tires? Road attacks? Q3s?
Thanks

I am hoping for 5000+ from my Q3's.... Not sure how long your trip is...:)

Well not too long persay lol, probably around 2500 miles.
Just looking for a good tire for the rain as well just in case. Like I said I've search for sticky tires but never looked for a good lasting street tire. Haha!
I'll probably run CUPs or pro slicks when I get back.

PP3 or Q3 .. Both should fit what you are looking for I would think???

This was my supercorsa after my trip to Assen....manged to get over 4k miles out of it! so id recommend them.

I'm running SC2s and at least with this CA summer heat they seem to warm as quickly as SPs.

But let us be real, the limits of the SPs are far greater than any of us really need on the street. Only reason I'm running SC2s is because of track time....

Bridgestone S20's FTW

@Cobra700 - Just posted this on another tire thread. If you're going on a road trip and want a tire you can shred on but handle mini-rivers going across the road in a downpour, the S20's just did that for me in the Smoky Mountains the first half of this week. My TC experience is almost exactly the same as E350 in his earlier post:

I'm in the Smoky Mountains this week and have been enjoying the Bridgestone S20's. It has been a real rain-fest here this week and only had a couple of runs with semi-dry roads. I'm glad I changed out the OEM Supercorsa SPs (still good life left with 1600 miles on them) for S20's on this trip, as I was practically fording streams across the road during some monsoon-style rains. Admittedly, I was not pushing at all in the rain, but the S20's couldn't have been more confidence inspiring and kept me upright.

Today was a total washout so I compiled these video clips from the first day, getting used to the bike and tire combo and my first time back in the mountains in 4 years.

Ducati 1199 Panigale w/Termignoni Mountain Ride with TC Activating on Bridgestone S20s - YouTube

You can see the TC light activate as I give it a little stick coming out of corners. As Steve B told me and posted here, the S20's cause earlier TC intervention than the OEM Pirelli's. I don't believe it is due to the S20's not being as sticky (they may be a touch less sticky), rather the front tire and rear 190/55, and slip/thrust ratio's differences to the Supercorsa SP's. It seems like at about 40% lean, pouring on the throttle in the midrange driving off a corner is when the TC activates consistently with these tires (DTC was set to 4). However, with wet patches all over the road I can't be sure.

Hopefully I'll get some more semi-dry time to get enough feel of the TC/tire combo to report.

I took my SC2's to the track for a track day and they grew on me. Wore out the side walls in 6 sessions though on the right side...
