Bike caught on fire...

I'm sharp enough to buy reliable motorcycles. ;)

I dont like seeing my son get screwed by an inferior product, Ducati better take care of it.

But on the bright side"¦.if your son gets some Nomex riding pants he can really work out the whole Panigale is too hot to ride/Panigale bursts into flame duality. He's covered either way.

Win, win.

NOLA

Wow this is fun. I will be the first to admit that the Duc is a pain in the ass. I rode HRC bikes exclusively for years and decided to get a twin as I had never had one. I think it boils down to this. My 1299 is bulletproof but thats because i built it from the ground up sparing nothing. I did the same thing with my 1000RRs. The Panigale is basically a race bike. Little thought was given in a lot of engineering aspects of the bike with regard to maintenance and reliability. I can be as reliable as a Honda or Yamaha but your going to have to do some work to it. I think the biggest issue in general is the inconsistency in reliability and factors governing these issues. True diehards scoff at the engine heat issues (forget the high water temps, have any of you looked at the oil temp?) and the heat to the rider (just suck it up) but seriously, this is not acceptable to other mfg. Yes the bike is powerful but my 2005 1000RR with the HRC kitted motor makes more HP and it is 10 years old and as reliable as a Rolex. The radiators are too small for the bike. The bike needs an oil cooler not a heat exchanger that sits on top of an exhaust header. The bike needs a 35mm radiator not the POS it ships with bla bla. It is a compromise in a deliverable for the price. Bottom line is, if you have unlimited resources, the Duc is right there with the best of the best (look at WSBK). If your limited to stock or bolt on and you consider all aspects of owning a sport bike, the Duc is going to fall short of the Japanese bikes. Its that simple and it has nothing to do with preference or loyalty.

Can he not speak for himself?

Telling us what YOU think of it is pointless.

Go hold his hand at the dealer and tell them

Lets rather that ArseHammer and a friend work the knots out of him...

I think this Silverback guy is funny...in a Donald Trump kind of way.

Sigh... Donald Trump is the best thing that can currently happen to the USA. The rest all belong to the same NWO gang and is doing a brilliant job of destroying the USA - IMHO.

Lmao. Been wondering how long it'd be before Trump came up. Did you know he's gonna build a wall? And who's going to pay for it?!!!

He's a buffoon.

Well this thread took an unexpected turn...anyways Ducati omaha drove 3 hours to pick up the bike. In the shop now. Ducati North America also called to get a report from me. So they are taking steps to make it right

It's very admirable to see a Father and son relationship on this forum..
This type of loving bond can never be broken...

It is bringing a bit of a teary eye to myself as it brings back memories of my relationship with me dad...

For example, When I was just a wee little fella, me dad used to say
"son come over and sit on my lap and we'll talk about the first thing that pops up..."

I miss my dad as I don't see him as much.. but even when we finally see each other I still sit on his lap and talk about the "first thing that pops up"...

What a giving father I have and I will never forget the lessons he instilled in me:eek:

I love you dad...

In!, before Dad has another mental meltdown and flips out on Ducati and completely screws over his own son when Ducati gets sick of it and says: "Sand over there, pound it."

They are Italian after all. In other news, don't tell a German that his product is crap if you expect warranty service.

The Busa is a farm tractor. They were cool in 1999. But it's not a very hard machine to build. It's not pushed anywhere near modern tech limits. Anyone can build a 350 or 383 Chevy with 300hp that's perfectly reliable.

But as long as we're playing this game, Busa issues:
-cam chain
-fuel pump
-bad transmissions (1st and 2nd)
-clutch chatter and burnishing
-starter kickback
-aluminum subframes that are about as strong as old cheese. (Weird cause fat chicks love busa's. Or is that the real cause? )
-valve cover orings (the ones around the plug)
-overheating

Japanese bikes have their fair share of issues. That list ain't any longer than the 2012 Panigale's. I haven't ever seen a decent bike shop, with decent sales, with an empty mechanics bay.

If you really want to see how tough Busa's are, go over to the Locust Super 7 kit car forums. The busa engine and trans are used in many BEC builds over there. With the added load and grip or two rear tires, the busa engine only lasts about a year, but since they're easy to find in scrap yards, they're still a great choice.

Well let me tell you... my son's 1299 is a disaster.

Well it's about time we hear it from him? With respect all products have given .... at some time, That company that builds Rotax engines, remember them, ...they build some nice Biz jets , ... With your reasoning you would not fly in one?
