Bike caught on fire...

Hmmmm looks like ol Silverback left us and went back to Busa's with neon lights, extended swingarms, Nitrous, and fat chicks...

That sounds much more civilized and reliable kinda like ArseHammer doing cavity searches at the airport with no hands.

Lmao. Been wondering how long it'd be before Trump came up. Did you know he's gonna build a wall? And who's going to pay for it?!!!

He's a buffoon.

i'll take a buffoon over a goldman sachs owned felon that helped create ISIS and is a straight up murderess and i'll take a buffoon over a ne0-socialist who cant do basic arithmetic any day of the week.

having said that, like george carlin, i refuse to vote...

edit:

if u want WW3 vote Hiltery

if u want toilet paper shortages and rectal cancer vote BernOut

if u dont mind Mexikkko payin fer a shiny obsidian wall wit gold accents.... . .

Which airport did you say he was doing that ?

UPDATE: Dealer called, the catalytic converter is what caused the issue. Broke and overheated, thus causing the fire. They're putting a new stock exhaust back on. Not sure how comfortable I feel with having what caused the issue(only new) put right back on the bike.

not sure what actual fire damage is, but would be pushing for a new bike....

They wouldn't go for the exhaust so the likely hood of a new bike is even less I'm sure. Damage was minimal but I don't think it makes sense to put a stock exhaust back on.

makes perfect sense for d to save $$$...

I would demand a better explanation of what is going on: what broke , and what burned /needed replaced.

mc catalytic converters don't have any moving parts or inducers they're simplistic. more than likely the cat got hot and started a fire. I would want to know what caused the cat to get hot beyond its normal function.
I.E. I don't think catalytic converters break and I think you're being lied to . that is my opinion.

Had cat fail on my car, RX8. Turned out 2 of the coils had failed & fuel was being pumped into the exhaust before igniting and setting fire to the CAT, it was lucky the car didn't catch fire. I'd push for some more information on the cause as well.

I agree with you. I wouldn't want another stock exhaust on my bike either. Time for a full Akrapovic EVO system WITHOUT cats.

Exactly. I told them that's what should be done but Ducati NA "assured me the steps they're taking should solve the problem".

ask for akro at cost... for all of your troubles and for [brand loyalty] continuing to ride a firebomb :D

tell D if they dont take care of u right, then you'll send over Daddy 'Busa to settle things....

"Should" is not a very confidence inspiring word considering the outcome of a fireball under your balls. I would not be happy or accepting with that statement.

Should is the only realistic word anyone can use.

OP bought a brand new bike n had this happen to him. Is it common? By the experience of all owners on this forum, absolutely a one off type of experience. Does that mean it shouldn't have happened? Obviously not since it did happen. No dealer in their right mind is gonna take a one off type of situation and let the consumer get a leg up on them in the means of an upgrade at cost or some other option. The only realistic option is to replace it with oem equipment and it SHOULD be fine. No one can guarantee that things like this won't happen. Headers cracking with aftermarket exhaust SHOULDN'T happen but it obviously has on another members bike. Dealer at best can only replace it with another oem equipment. Dealers don't owe you anything besides a working bike in the same way it was before the mishap happened.

There are other words or phrases that can be used other than should but your missing the point. Yes, the dealer can only do what they can with OEM parts to take care of the issue the best they can and know how to. Thanks for trying to correct me and laying out this long winded rant on should...

in good faith a dealer should try and make the customer happy, esp when the bike combusts like it did -- they should work out a deal whereby the customer can upgrade to an exhaust at cost as both apology and thank you...

but if u dont appreciate customer service, the u should;... nevermind..
