DIY Sequential Tail Light

Help Support Ducati Forum:

I'm also committed to buying one of these if they are available.

Also, what are the supporting electronics like? Are they external to the light unit? I have a 3D printer and some experience prototyping, if you need any kind of case or enclosure let me know.

Ohhh... great!
Yes, I want to keep most of the electronics in a very small box (1/2 size of a cigarette box) on top of the tool compartement's cap. For multiple reasons:
- Easy firmware upgrade
- Easy access to switches to change configuration
- Optimal orientation of the accelerometer

Would be phantastic if you could support me with 3d printing of some stuff!

My dream tail light. I just received my Panigale Anniversario and will have to settle for the CW in the meantime.

I would prefer a red lens if you're keeping track of that preference.

Less likely to be hassled. I bought a new aftermarket light from the dealer (don't remember the brand) but it has amber turn signal LED's built into it. So I was able to remove the turn signals that came on the bike. It's surprising how well the amber LED's show through the red lens. Basically the whole left or right side seems to turn amber. Very nice light. That in a sequential version would be sweet!

I decided to run tinted...
Almost minimal absorption for any color: so "party", "police", "tricolore" and "double0" mode will work.
I am still working on getting the housings, it has been promised that I would get a sample in approx. two weeks. Even though its from China it's going to be pretty expensive and I can't afford to order multiple different colours for the lenses :(

Today I checked with a US manufacturer whether he's willing to produce the electronics part. Would be cool to have at least portions of the stuff having produced in the USA! Hope to get a reply next week.

I'm in

Sequential Tail Light

Thanks man.

I'm Def. In! May I suggest that we run a list by way of generating a Total Count for Gecko. ......... Fantastic Job Gecko!

Dear gents

Sorry, I'm pretty busy with my "normal" life (besides my regular work I had to install a new toilet and repair the fridge :)).

Today I received a sample of the rear light's housing from Asia, and it's exactly what I was hoping to find. The seller I've found seems to be very reliable and super professional.

Currently I am checking out whether the optically relevant parts of the light could also be produced in small amounts in Asia as well.

This project is a completely new endeavour for me: please excuse delays. I have to learn and I am pretty sure I will run into multiple obstacles and problems. It is already exciting and frustrating :)

My goal is to provide you guys with a reliable and freakin good looking product for a reasonable price.

Cheers

Gecko
