The painter that is working on my tail fairings just email me this pictures below...
She applied maybe 5 or 6 clear coats on top of the Ducati factory clear coat for the area with red paint still visible.
(Originally we planned for just 3 clear coats) to make sure we cannot fell the edges of the stickers (white background and #1 stickers) that is why it is so shiny and deep,
and she still plan to sand it down and polish it some more today... so it is going to be even shinier...
Now, I am afraid for the worse case scenario, where I have to clear coat my entire bike just to match the tail deep shiny finished... :p

Looks great
i think you will have to do the whole bike
with that i mean the other original painted bodywork

Because that much layers of clearcoat ,will make it look very different
in depth and even in color ,but it sure looks beautiful
love your build

Hi Zundapp, the tail fairing arrived back from the painter last night, and it's just very very very slightly darker color on the red paint, but the white parts actually a bit brighter so I think it is ok for now that I keep the rest of the bike with the factory clear coat (at least that what the Angel in my Wallet told me, however, the devil in my heart keep telling me to just do it :p) I will post update with pictures on this post further below...

Hi bradp51, Thanks for the kind words, when the tail fairing arrived, it is not as shiny as on the picture that my painter sent to me, but about the same as the original factory Ducati. It just looks "deeper" because the stickers are buried inside the clear coat that it don't even look like I am using sticker anymore but more like it had been airbrushed :D

I loved what you done so much I decided to copy you. Parts are going to body shop tomorrow to be clear coated.
I got my graphics guy to make a matching number 1 so it all looks factory!
Hi Raul1976, Thanks for your kind words. I appreciate it.
WOW, I don't even realized that my number 1 font type was wrong until you point it out with the picture above. I guess this is what happened when I am looking for number sticker at Amazon (for mailbox/house address) in the middle of the night:p Too bad and too late for me, but yours look amazing... well, as a consolation for my mistake, I will just cheer myself up and saying, a defective font style make mine "unique" and "one of a kind" (mistake) hahaha :p
Where is Time Machine when you need one...

By now I’m pretty sure you should have got the SL!
Hi Paul G,
I buy this bike due to sentimental reason, because I use to owned the original 916 back in 1995. In fact, originally, I was planning to purchase a low mileage original 916 but I am just "curious" with this Panigale V4 916 edition and I decided to visit ProItalia to "take a look"... well, the rest is history, because, It was during Xmas time, with Xmas decoration inside ProItalia, and they displayed a V4 916 25 Anniversario in the middle of their dealership in elevated position as their primadona and the bike paint just match the Xmas decoration etc. etc...
It's just gorgeous and make me fall in love on the spot (well actually right after Bill from ProItalia turn on the ignition key and the front LED running light turns on like a gorgeous girl waking up from deep sleep). Plus I don't have to worry about maintaining a 25 years old 916...
First, I don't have the budget to purchase a $100k V4 Superleggera at this moment and I just cannot like the paint and the looks of the Superleggera.
Second, , Don't get me wrong, the Superleggera is a technical tour de force, highest performing and very exclusive, but even if someone offer me to swap a V4 Superleggera with my bike, I will not do it,
because I only love the looks of my 916 and the sentimental value. (not that anyone is crazy enough to offer me a swap anyway) :D
Third, Not to mention the research I did (contacting every single dealer in the USA with a V4 916) to get a bike with the serial number that I can love, it was a journey on itself :p

Now, I want to update with the tail fairing on the bike:

I think you’re right but I think THIS bike is even more special to @BMW Alpina than a SL could ever be
Even got the sound system to play lullaby’s to ur Ducati. R those B&W speakers?

Hi DucatiKev,
Wow, I appreciate that you remember my story about how special a 916 was to me...
I am still trying to get some of the missing things in my life back and this V4 916 sure is another step accomplished and means a lot to me.
Yes, it is a B&W 804 D3

most meaningful conversation I’ve ever had on here..

I love B&W. I’m a big audio guy

The “Foggy” eyes is my favorite part of the livery. Awesome

whats “foggy eyes” the black inlays under the headlights? Yeah they did real nice on the paint scheme. I like the exposed red area below the headlights. I dnot like the race bikes that are fully blacked out on that bar under the headlight

No the Carl Fogarty Eyes decal on the windscreen.

this is beautiful!!!

Incidentally, I own one of the 1996 team race bikes that was built with a bunch of Fogarty's and Corser's WSBK parts from 1995. The stuff they made back then was unreal and incredibly cool.

Wait. Why would you worry about maintaining a 25 year old 916? You're not riding it. You prep it for storage and it's a piece of cake. I have a delivery mile 996R that's never been ridden and for years it just lives in my home office. There's no trouble whatsoever with it and I think that it's much easier to have that bike in the house than a new bike with all of it's complicated electronics and other systems that need a good running through periodically.

Hi Sherpa23,
Because although I am only use the bike for static display in my living room, but once every week, I would like to start the engine and listen to it :D so I can feel the bike is alive not a dead/broken object.
The sound of the bike, the heat from the engine, the smell of the oil when hot, that brings back a lot of memory.
The original 916 need it's timing belt to be replace every 2 years, even if you are not driving it. Those 1990's 916 early model also prone to electrical problem, and if someday it broke, the parts might be harder to find.
I also read about the flaking issue on some of the bike. So in the end, I decided to buy a brand new bike, oh also, if I buy the old 916 it will be a pre-owned bike, but this V4 916, is brand new, belong to me only from the start :D

Sorry to be critical here but the 1 on the tail is different from the 1 on the OEM plastics...

Good observation, I wasn't realize about this mistake until Raul1976 pointed out with the pictures of his correct design number "1"
This is what happened when I am looking for the number "1" sticker at Amazon (for mailbox/house address) in the middle of the night with a sleepy eyes and brain :D

I place many amazon orders while I’m delusional right before I fall asleep and then it’s a surprise when it comes!
