Ducati V4 rumors?!

It's exactly my concerns as well. I love the idea of a V4 as the Tuono engine was pretty epic when I borrowed one a little while back but the low weight of the Panigale is what does it for me, especially the R. The RSV4 is 20kg heavier than the Pani R!

didn't realize it was that big a difference ....even if "it looks it" from the side

..R is truly a great bike...except the Oil Leak Meltdown its been having

Most manufacturers seem to be moving to the bigger capacity ~750 so I did wonder if we'd start seeing race series for those although I'm not sure if a 959 would even be eligible for that?

I wish the industry was not moving away from the 600 size bikes, I'm seriously considering an R6 to go racing on this year.

600cc racing isn't going anywhere. The industry isn't moving away from 600s. Just Honda and Triumph have said they won't be continuing their MW bikes for right now.

Other companies are still fully invested in 600s and 600cc racing has the biggest grids worldwide.

I wouldn't be worried about the 600's going anywhere as a whole.

Did you miss this article on WERA?

WSS to be replaced?

I dont know what the big push to have a v4 is. The current V2 is only a few years old, and is still at the pointy end of racing and (well, once tuned correctly) is good on the street.

Ducati isnt like some of the Jap brands where their new 2017 bike is still 5 years behind everything.
I wish they would improve their build quality.....

Interesting with the supersport class. My local track only has a Supersport class for points calculation.
You run either in "clubman" (which is any bike up to a set laptime) so the trumpy 675r' kawa 636, couple of 899's and the slow riders on 1000's.
Once over that laptime you go in with Superbike class.
The Honda CBR 300 race class is the biggest here.

It should be called the Meat Grinder Class :)

I was thinking about that bet today. I'm still good for it, but I'm going to wait for something a little more official than a "tease".

How many times have we heard the V4 was coming?

Lol.....All good mate Im a patient man, I was chatting about it with someone on Saturday....Definitely no tease, it is Ducati's way of building the public up :D

Which is why I accepted the bump to Expert (earned via Podium at the GNF) after having only completed 4-5 weekends as a Novice.

Every piece of hardware in my body (wrist, ankle, and collarbone twice) was due to being taken out by a 600cc Novice racer.

So.I went Expert once it was offered to me. I'd figured I'd rather battle for 15th with guys who are good and consistent, rather than battle for podiums with guys who may or may not hold their line.

I figured racing with faster guys would make me faster and I'd eventually be able to battle up front.

...check out the gallery pictures on the 2017 MotoGP Race Team....take a look at the tank and how it narrows down to what looks like narrower than a 916 ;)

Excuse the hijack and I can't remember if I mentioned this in another thread but I blame this purchase 100% on you @Chaotic :D:cool:
Supersport spec built for Hutchy for the TT.

You do know the Panigale platform is now 5 year old right and that Ducati hasn't won a WSBK title since 2011 when the 1098R was still in competition?

I will keep my 2016 R as I love it's characteristics of the twins and everything else that comes with it. Shame that I can't afford a 2017 SL....

But I am excited to see the new V4 and other things that will come with it (design, innovation, weight, dimensions, suspension, handling)....of course...the Price.

That will be revealed in 2019 and few years after that I may buy it.

Bottom line - I'm super excited.

im excited about it, If my plan works out, my R will be paid off when the new R comes out. Ill add it to the stable and start to expand my collection. I think it would be awesome to have the last twin R and the new V4 R
