I think they can add stroke, then de-stroke the engine to meet WSBK rules.
I mean, wouldn't that meet the general intentions of the rule for WSBK? If the streetbike is widely available and sells......... Worst case senerio, they keep racing the 1199 while they sell the 1299.
Sadly. Momo reviews and internet wang measuring still sells bikes. I could care less if the BMW routinely goes 0.1 seconds faster in the quarter mile.
I'm not sure increasing piston speed is a good idea with such huge pistons. 2 ring SL pistons? Yeah THAT'S a good idea. Save those for race bikes.
PS: Your bike doesn't get any worse when the new one comes out. Especially with the timeless good looks of a Ducati. Heck, the old Ducati Monsters our grandfathers rode still look good. In a few more years, the BMW will look as olde and lame as a Zx7RR. The KTM RC8 looks ancient, edge designs age quickly. MT knew that when he designed the 916, some edges, but smooth curves. That's one of the big reasons I bought the 1199. I saw the timeless good looks of the 916 in it.
