All dealers knows it by now !
Dealers were bloody surprised too...........they thought it's just a little facelift but it's said to be all NEW !
Time to show the huge capital power from Mother AUDI !

Supposedly KTM is coming out with the next RC8 based on the 1290 Super Duke R. So based on typical competition between manufacturers it could be possible. Maybe they'll have a homologation special for WSBK with the appropriate displacement and maybe a balls - out 1300 cc twin to finally kick some S1000RR tail in comparison tests. Almost seems logical...

the s1000rr has only been out since 2010 lol think ducati can finally get it right with a 1299. doubtful i guess you guys can hope. sport rider magazine s1000rr vs honda sp. wasn't even a battle. almost forgot a s1000rr is 16500 vs 30k for the r hahaha

I'd wager they're about to get some heat for this.....clearly someone in their group took this and posted it. NDA anyone?

They have the pic posted on their dealership page, but they cropped it so the model number wasn't visible.

I think they can add stroke, then de-stroke the engine to meet WSBK rules.

I mean, wouldn't that meet the general intentions of the rule for WSBK? If the streetbike is widely available and sells......... Worst case senerio, they keep racing the 1199 while they sell the 1299.

Sadly. Momo reviews and internet wang measuring still sells bikes. I could care less if the BMW routinely goes 0.1 seconds faster in the quarter mile.

I'm not sure increasing piston speed is a good idea with such huge pistons. 2 ring SL pistons? Yeah THAT'S a good idea. Save those for race bikes.

PS: Your bike doesn't get any worse when the new one comes out. Especially with the timeless good looks of a Ducati. Heck, the old Ducati Monsters our grandfathers rode still look good. In a few more years, the BMW will look as olde and lame as a Zx7RR. The KTM RC8 looks ancient, edge designs age quickly. MT knew that when he designed the 916, some edges, but smooth curves. That's one of the big reasons I bought the 1199. I saw the timeless good looks of the 916 in it.

Same bike, more stroke. Who wants to bet against me?

The Panigale is the 1st homerun in the looks department since the 916. I don't expect them to mess that up yet.

That wasn't the SP. It wouldn't matter, just sayin'

That's like comparing a Hyundai Equis to a Mercedes Benz S63 AMG......
The Equis might do everything the S63AMG does but at the end of the day it will never be a S63AMG.

Unless you race the R
There is not diference between the S and the R around town the R is a good deal if you care about dp carbon but 500 more RPM and couple internal goods is not going to make you better or faster on the street compare with an S. There is two type of people who buy the R. One is the collector or people who just want to have the fully loaded bike and the ones the races it. The guys the race the R don't care about limited production or carbon the other guys just want the bike to impress other Ducati rides or the friends because we all know that for the public they don't know if you bike is an R or base model

Then there are the guys that buy the R so they don't have to buy anything else to add the the Base or S model to make it an R :)

Merged 2 threads to try to keep all the 1299 speak in one place :)
