I am sorry that I am missing out on all warrantee issues and software updates, but if I can prevent it the Dragon lady will never see the inside Ducati Randburg. Porsche SA screwed me and the other Ducati owners who bought their bikes from now disenfranchised importers in South Africa over and Ducati Italy is apparently fine with it. We had either the choice of losing our service plans or our warrantees. We could not keep both.
In my case my dealer closed down after being disenfranchised.:eek::eek:

A warranty and a service plan are 2 different things... ducati cannot terminate your warranty

if your dealer closed then sue them for the remaining months of their service plan

Ducati terminates your warrantee if you service your bike at any other dealer, including those that were franchised when you bought your bike and who your service plan is at than the (only one) newly franchised dealer in South Africa. This situation has been brought about by the underhanded dealings of Porsche SA (new franchise holder) and Ducati Italy.
I live in South Africa, suing Porsche SA here will not be that easy and prohibitively expensive otherwise the now disenfranchised previous importers would also have done so. Those importers/dealers are still well loved by the SA Ducati community.:eek::eek:

Just plugged Tuneboy in. Post service data layout shows 0207 (previously 0206) - they have changed something.

:D

Sorry, probably shouldn't start this one one again! Update was 4/4/14 and the data layout shows 0207 (previously 0206 and 0205 before that!).

There's no need to apologise.
Thanks for sharing that detailed info about the designations of the updates.

We are just trying to share information and build upon our collective knowledge.

That's what a "forum" is for;)
Isn't it?

Besides it's what makes this 1199 forum stand out among all others:)
As long as we can keep the politics out of it.
It will be all good:)

Ah, we need to keep the some politics in it to keep things alive. I'll start.

I think our new ACA should allow free vasectomies and tuba ligation for all liberals to keep the .......s from breeding.

Can I ask what seems (to me) to be an obvious question about the mystery of software updates?

There are DEALERS on this forum - shouldn't THEY know the truth?

Even if they can't get an answer from Ducati, couldn't they hook their own 1199 up to the machine (if they own one) or one from the showroom floor or in for service and then report back to us as a favor to the Forum?

Sorry for the Caps - touchy subject :)

Some of us are a long way from a dealer

You don't seriously think this thread can be stopped by mere facts do you? The facts were posted and ignored many, many, many pages ago. It's the Godzilla of threads, millions of Japanese have fled after reading it. All it takes for the thread to come back to life after it has seemingly had a stake driven in its heart is someone else posting that they took their bike in, and got it back, and now it runs better. I predict this thread will go on until at least 2015, when the forum is a ghost town because everyone is over on the new 1299 Panigale forum.

It's only a touchy subject if one allows it to be;)
If we can keep the politics and ego's out of it, there won't be any issues.
There's always the choice available to us, to either contribute in a positive way or disregard the matter as prudence dictates.

Regarding the update.
There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.
Some bikes are clearly getting an update and there are more bikes that clearly aren't.
And there are those bikes where it's inconclusive.
It's as simple as that.

Apparently it's only for the bikes that need it(according to DUCATI) and it's inconclusive as to whether it's universal or selectively applied.
Why some bikes need it and others don't is another matter:confused:
It's obviously something that only DUCATI actually knows about.

If you're not close to a dealer.
I wouldn't make a special trip just in the hope of getting an update., especially if the dealer is inclined to charge you for the priveledge:eek:
My recommendation would be to wait until your bike goes in for a service or a recall, and get any updates that are available for it while it's there;)

I am becoming concerned that Monty Python may sue if it continues to be referred to as the "Holy Grail". Just sayin.

were still talking about this??

new subject!!

Nice of you to contribute sir:)
Your absence to date was of considerable concern.

Yes, a new subject for this good forum is always welcome.
Do feel free to start a thread if you want a new subject;)

I was just going to say the same f nothing.... Like .... me quit feeding this troll.

I guess I just did as well. :(

I didn't know I was a troll:confused:
Thanks for your contribution Whoopaz;)
I was feeling a little peckish.
In this case, you have indeed been successful at feeding the troll:)

I would like to thank you for your thread about the water pump drive gear.
I sincerely hope no one else has that problem.
I'll be checking my drained oil more carefully from now on before discarding it:(
