Heads up on RaceSeat fitment on 22 pV4

Help Support Ducati Forum:

@Steven31371, would you mind sharing the dimensions of the grommets and screws that you are using? The seat seems to be designed with those in mind so I will try to get hold of those before drilling out the seat.

I’m out of town, but will be home in a couple days and will measure it up, if you go to Ducati Omaha’s website you can download a page by page parts schematic of the entire bike down to every nut bolt and screw and I think it shows what size screws they are.

In any case I’ll measure and send pics when I get home.

Dude, the part number he listed is the correct one for the ‘22 model.View attachment 47859

This is the one I ordered, and specified the height I want above stock height, turned out perfect.

Edit: I bought the one right above the one I circled, not the 2022 version that I circled. The only difference should be accounting for the new tank shape

Hilarious customer service though. Um, yeah, it's not our fault, but we will rectify the situation...(although won't pay postage, as it's definitely not our fault, and paying postage is an admission of fault. Rebuilding the product, that's not an admission of fault)

Yeah… not exactly great. My last email to them was a bit more blunt. Basically, you sent me a defective product and you’re asking me to pay extra to get the correct one. It sucks that it’s come to this…

I hope Raceseat finds their way. If not I’ll take it up w PayPal. They have good customer protection.

@Steven31371 - do you have any pictures of yours fitted?

I’m interested in how this goes for you @SuperDomestique as I was just about to place an order. The material looks good. I was surprised that it sits so low on the tank in your picture though and it looks more canted forward than I expected. I think the DP race seat is flatter?

DP seat get confusing as one is described as being 20mm taller........but its the same height as the previous sport seat.... then they do a race seat......work that out...

The DP race definitely has more of a curve to it.

My poor choice of words. By ‘flatter’ I meant more horizontal rather than canted forward. Is that not the case? The one the OP shows looks like it’s sloped forward quite a bit due to where it meets the tank but I’ve seen another on this forum that looked like it met the tank in the usual place and the seat looked more horizontal than this one.

Maybe it’s just the pictures.

It’s the rear subframe that causes the downward cant…no way to really fix that because of the tank design for me.

The V4 tank is not flat like the R1, so you need to get your butt up higher to be flatter and get into a tuck, hence the higher rear end. Also if you shape the seat so that it’s more horizontal to the ground the front edge of the seat will ride so high up the tank that you will struggle to have enough real estate to hold on with your outside leg at lean.

Here's their response...

Will be taking this up with PayPal and aim to get ALL my money back. I'm not spending 60 euro (amazing that it costs that much for shipping) for a seat that's incorrect and not to their specifications.

Would not recommend buying from them. Asking the customer to fix their mistakes and "ovalize" the hole is messed up. Sure, it's easily doable but garbage customer service/rationale. It seems that this "small craft company" doesn't value their small customers.

How many satisfied customers do they have on this board alone?

Why not just enlarge the holes?

Why didn’t they enlarge the holes in the first place? Why didn’t they drill the holes in the right place? And why didn’t they make the seat to their specifications (ie stock seat height)?

Are customers really satisfied?

I think you/me/anyone could accept, or deal with, the locating holes needing adjustment. It happens. But the seat thickness being wrong is quite painful.
Most people have a good experience with this company, I'd take it on the chin and accept their off of part refund, or ask them to send another, to the correct specification. Yes, you'll pay another €60, but also you'll have two seats to try out.

Agreed. It might sound prickish but I refuse to pay for someone’s incompetence. Who’s to say they’ll get it right the next time?

I had such high hopes. And I thought this company was held in high regard. Buyer beware.
