Heads up on RaceSeat fitment on 22 pV4

I was looking for a solution that wraps around the corner. Same thing, that's where my thigh is.

That dude's dining room table cost more than your bike. I don't think he cares.

That’s one reason I use stompgrips, they stick really well and flex around those corners.

I really like the tech spec stuff but I can’t get them to stay stuck to the tank when I flex them around those corners.

The thinner version Super mentioned sounds promising.

Yeah, I'd think the thick rubber would not be flexible enough. That tank cover has kind of a compound curve that could be tricky. I tried looking for a mild grip tape in which I could run a single, mayby 3" x 13" band around the rear of the tank coverr.

I had to wrestle in my seat a bit but it wasn't worth mentioning since it was easy to resolve. I think the hole placement could be better, but I don't know enough about their process to suggest anything useful. The baseplate of the stock seat is injection molded, so the screw bosses are always in the exact same place.

Still a lot of downward slope, and in my case I don’t think it’s fixable on this bike for me, because I need the rear of the seat to be high so I can get into a tuck. If I raise the front of the seat while having the back where I need it I won’t have any tank to grip lol

bp you can see how I have the stompgrips placed.

As an aside I ordered both the high profile and low profile MonkeyGripps tank extenders to try, several guys had them at the track last weekend and they look very promising. Will update

That’s the 50 mm? It’s like they did 50 across the whole seat. I mean if that’s what you wanted then that’s what you got. However tapering towards the back would make it less of an angle.

It’s frustrating that they don’t give photos of it mocked up on a bike before the build it. Someone on their end should render the thing in photoshop with all angles and only proceed when that’s signed off.

Again, it’s not like I can’t drill holes. What frustrates me is that THEY, the experts, can’t get it right. That’s seat making 101.

It’s like the guy drilling holes is blindfolded and just goes for it.

Did you ask for that?
I asked for my money back is what I asked them.

I sent them photoshops of what I wanted and they said that they could do it. They sent photos of the completed seat by itself. I trusted them that they met our agreed upon specs. Hence my surprise when the seat arrived and it wasn’t what we discussed and not being satisfied with it. You’d know the process if you ordered from them…

I find it odd that someone with no skin in the game defends this company so staunchly. I mean if you like getting bent over, by all mean order a seat from them. Me, I have high standards and will only be bent over when my design spec is met.

I ordered a couple of these tank grips, but haven’t tried them yet. Not sure if it’s what you want, but perhaps it would wrap around the tank cover?

Honestly I think they make them that way on purpose, the tolerances are exactly where they want them. Once you get everything pressed in right and angled right they go right in, it’s just frustrating figuring out the way to do it, but once you do it a few times it gets easier.

And then it makes a very snug press fit, which I think is their intention

I respectfully disagree about the wholes, I think they are exactly where they want them, when you get everything aligned right and pressed right they go right in, it’s just a pita figuring that out and takes some patience fiddling with it the 1st few times, the tolerances are less than on the stock seat, they are made better, and therefore harder to install.

Personally I’m starting to think that the only mod that’s really gunna get the ergos right with the seat and the tank and the windscreens in tuck position etc is to install a 2023 M 1000 RR in my garage 😂😂😂

But then I give up the turning agility and power of my bike.

Haha! I know some guys who have and have had the S1000RR, and they have mixed opinions regarding the ergonomics. Funnily enough one of the shorter guys thought the seat was too low, and wanted to be more on top of the bike. He much preferred the seat and tank on my V4. Others seem to like the "in the bike” ethos of the BMW.

Btw, finally test fitted mine and the holes lined up perfectly. Didn’t have to force anything into place. On the contrary it was a little loose in front, so I’ll add some rubber pads under the base plate to take up the slack.

I saw these when I 1st bought the bike but thought they were ugly. But then when you start going to the track functional suddenly becomes more important, I had forgot about them until I saw several guys at the track with them last weekend.

I order the high profile and low profile versions to try in solid black.

Supposed to be here today.

The guy is very responsive and fast, and will let you order it a try several different versions and return the one you don’t want.

He can custom make one too

What I like about them is that my chest hits that hard right angle of my Vulture bike extender in a tuck. These might let you get a good leg grab and a more ergonomic tuck

I looks like the Monkey Gripp more or less does the same thing a SBK style tank cover does but in a different material.

Do you think it being neoprene is good or bad?

I think the other shape they offer is pretty interesting too.

Not sure yet. It may not be as tacky as some of the other types, but it seems better than the R&G ones that I have now. I’m hoping the extra thickness will provide slightly better leverage on the tank as well. They were really cheap so figured why not give them a shot.

My experience with neoprene is that the surface kinda hardens over time just enough to lose grip, but it wouldn’t be that hard to bond a bit of stomprip to key areas
