Heads up on RaceSeat fitment on 22 pV4

SD, getting the seat right is an important part of ergonomics, I'm just used to whatever the Manu supplies. I did get a comfort seat on the '99 which made a positive difference since it was an extra 30mm's from memory and I've got long legs.
Most "real" race seats are nothing more than a layer or two of closed cell foam glued onto a fibreglass seat and tail section combo. Comfort is not high on the list for a 10 or 20 lap event! The important thing is the right amount of grip and support for acceleration and the tuck. I think getting a 3rd party to help with the ergo's is a really good idea, they can stand back and point out the obvious adjustments which are hard to do as a one man band.

Agree that seat height doesn’t change the knee height. But it does affect where your thigh goes. Higher seat will allow me to get my thigh higher into the notch in the tank which is the end goal.

“This lower seat height also lowers my knees so they’re farther away from the knee contours.”

@SuperDomestique - mine is about to be fitted to my bike. It’s actually at the dealer at the moment having some bits done and I took the seat there to see if it would fit to, only to find that the bike was in so many pieces that it wasn’t possible to try, so they told me to leave it with them and they will pop it on. I asked them to let me know if there were any issues.

RaceSeats informed me that there was an issue with a change of screws used for the current model and they have rectified this. I’ll know about the fitment of my seat in the first half of this coming week.

I stand behind that Raceseats as a company and the ..... product they deliver absolutely ....... sucks.

Somewhere, someone has said the same about nearly every company that has ever existed - even the most successful companies in a given industry (i.e. Apple, Ferrari, Ducati, Toyota, etc…), likely even about a company you think is awesome. These opinions (like yours regarding Raceseats) are considered outliers, and as such, they are considered insignificant.

Wow. This is some impressive stuff… You’ve persuaded me with this stunning argument. If the seat doesn’t fit, you must acquit 🤷‍♂️

@spooky Few questions for you. Would you post some photos of your seat? Which one did you purchase? Could have the shop measure your seat?

I’m finding that I’m going to have to trim about 7 mm around the tank to get it to fit. I’m fairly confident that they sent a 2018-21 seat

You might be right. I got the flat version but rounded off a bit.

If you sell enough product or service you WILL eventually sell to someone you can never ever make happy, if you sell even more you’ll run across just enough of those that a few of them will internet troll the product or service, these days if you don’t run across some of those you’re probably not doing something right, or enough of it to matter.

Interesting... The D11 model line is what is specified for 2022 models. But your seat looks similar to Kevin Seider's seat on his 2022 V4S so I'm hoping that the one they sent you fits.

The saga continues to try to fix this RaceSeats ineptitude. I measured the stock seat horizontally lengthwise. Comes out to 315-17 mm. Same measurement on the RaceSeat is 323 mm. @spooky Might be worth checking this before going down a rabbit hole like I have with this.

I think people are being a little bit harsh in this thread (and one person in particular).

RaceSeats have told me that they had an issue with the screw size being different for the ’22 bike and they had not realised it was different. This has apparently been rectified. Obviously it’s something easy to fix and I doubt it would have been a particularly big deal if that was the only issue.

It’s also clear that the OP talked about having the seat higher at the tank but it’s clearly lower, so there was obviously a miscommunication. RaceSeats have taken responsibility by providing a refund, which is an acceptable response. It does seem to me that the only way to make the entire seat flatter and maintain the central seat height is for the front to be lower? Surely if the front was the same height against the tank then the central part would inevitably be higher as the back presumably cannot be made lower.

Seat height in the center appears to be the same from the pictures, so their website statements about seat height remain correct but it does seem clear that the OP did not get what he had expected. People (and this Company is a small number of people - not a massive organisation) do make mistakes and they have dealt with it by providing a refund. It’s ok to make mistakes if you deal with them well and that seems to have eventually happened.

I have not yet had mine fitted and so I don’t know if there are any issues or not with mine. I believe the tank is different on the ‘22 so hopefully the seat fits fine.

RaceSeats have told me that they had not checked their seats on the ‘22 model. They tell me they have now checked their seats on a ‘22 bike at a dealer and ‘all is resolved’. I will soon find out if that is the case. Some pictures below of my seat being made - the pale one is the standard seat to compare to mine, this being the black one.

Spooky, don't let the facts get in the way of Andyb's diatribe. 🤣

aw thanks

its a simple shoulder screw of slightly bigger dimension than a std screw......hardly a bodge ... and there are plenty of them to see!
