What's the point of a price cap when it's just for one manufacturer and it's just increased to meet their demands? It's still going to be a servicing/warranty nightmare unless they've come up with some miracle alloy

You are joking aren't you? Did you check how much M1000rr is?

It applies to all brands.

Karl’s comments come from the launch of the V4R (2022) being delayed by a week until the rule change was announced…which they blamed on inflation.

I’m just glad I bought a house in 2021 before everything went stupid.

That ........ PPV legislation that came out of the fat donnie admin. FBI believes at least half, 500 billion of the trillion went to fraudulent claims. Congress saw a chance to further line their pockets. Both sides complicit. Inflation can only exist when the middle class has excess cash. When the corporations see that they're taking their piece. The problem is not everybody ended up with more cash. Glad to hear you bought a house before the onslaught.

I cant say is ugly, but i like the previous models more. I get the idea of function over form, but being 46 the age when i can afford one without financing i also understand that i can never reach the potential of the bike. So going that deep into performance is a bit overrated for me anyway. Yes being able to buy a bike that laps a few seconds slower over a motoGP bike is insane and we have come a long way, but i prefer the former more menacing look of the 2020-24 design.

Cost reduction. Believe me that SSSA is at least twice as expensive to make. What surprises me is it's only 1kg lighter. So the rest of the weight reduction went where? Going to the SSSA should be more than that.

Yet the bike is $5K more. Yeah it has more electronics but not that much more

Despite what the naysayers will have you believe I am NOT tempted by the new Panigale V4, and just can't, despite the obvious technical improvements, bring myself to like it. Here's mine against the new version. Not a lover of the raised front end, side profile and discontinuous lines on the newer iteration. It looks more like a Japanese in line four IMHO.

newer looks like more of the latest motogp design, in the front area.

Regarding the look, it is always personal.
Some may prefer the look, some may prefer the performance, some ( like me ) think that something " armonic " is probably also efficient ( I think about aircrafts design

My 2 cents

I owned 2018 pictured below when it just came out, converted to R fairings immediately after the R was announced and clocked 2:24.000 on it in COTA as personal best. The bike was fantastic for track use with a few mods. Electronic package was amazing (I ran optional "Pirelli Slick" Corsa software) and feeling power slides accelerating out of corners is what I miss the most. I sold the bike a few years ago, but currently itching to get back into track riding again and the new Panigale caught my attention once again.

I do not like the looks of the new model overall, especially Honda front end and the lack of SSSA. I think Ducati should have and could have done better without sacrificing performance or straight up reserved all the Ducati Corsa wants to the homologation R model. That being said, for me performance and ergonomics are more important than the overall appearance. The old model from the beginning was too cramped for me (I am 6'1" and 175 lbs). I had to run custom race seat and turn the clip ons far out to be able to go into proper full tuck with elbows in front of knees. The tank was way too rounded and provided not enough support in braking. I know they addressed some of it in later upgrades, but I really like the shape of the new tank even without seeing bike in person; the fact they got rid of a piece of fairing where the leg contacts the bike and widened and elongated the seat is awesome. I wish they would have relocated the key while at it, as it is sticking out where the chin goes =)

Nice to see them moving the mirrors to the underside as taking on and off the old mirrors was annoying operation.

I am very excited about the new electronics, especially the new rear brake feature. At the time, I fabricated my own bracket for the aftermarket left thumb rear brake, but honestly, I could not achieve the mastery of it, it was just too hard for me to use under max braking. And I always thought I was leaving a lot on the table by not being able to use the rear brake properly. Anyway, I like all the changes apart from the design and price hikes. I do agree $10,000 exhaust looks crappy without the belly pan and belly pan is another $1000 plus paint job. One could "save" with the $5K slip-on, but then the race option rear sets are not compatible and the same Corsa software seems to be calibrated to the high mount exhaust option only. It looks like it will be $50K bike before carbon wheels or dry clutch is added. So lots to think about but swallowing the looks is not the hardest thing for me..

PS I do like the new wheels as they are more MotoGP like, although wish they were carbon stock similar to my M1000XR..

You still have the KTM collection? Sounds like you switched to BMW again

Haha. I recently sold all my KTMs. Gen3 SuperDuke R had 25,000 miles - fantastic bike (benchmark for me for road riding) , but I needed a more long distance option and jumped on the all new MXR (not bad for a sports tourer and I am enjoying it so far; it’s been almost 10 years since my last inline-4 BMW and yeah not a V4, but the bike has a lot of strong points).

The latest 1290 SuperAdventureS was too compromised for me on the road and too heavy for any serious off-roading and I really disliked stock engine map and how engine felt and there was no aftermarket solution so sold it after less than a year and 7000 miles. Completely different LC8 on that vs SDR! Lesson learned.

Had a good run with 500EXCF, but developed a bit of an issue with my knee riding mountain bikes hard chasing Strava segments wins and can’t take any chances any more with the type of dirt bike riding I was doing.. Hence the idea of going back to superbikes and track maybe next year. Currently looking at the market and awaiting the new KTM 990 RCR to weigh the options, but damn Ducati is always calling on me..

Same same. I’d rather chuck money at fast push bikes than try to make 200 hp bike faster

You’d be surprised how much of an improvement the 22-24 V4 is over the 18-21. I wouldn’t count on the 25 being faster at anything but 10/10ths pace.

It's 33k base and about 40k fully decked out. 15k less than the equivalent spec V4SP/R.
What am I missing here?

35.5k vs 43.6k here

there is a difference yes but not 15k

Clean looking bike! Electronically controlled suspension. Nice.

Yeah, I think it may be a hard sell as an upgrade from the latest spec predecessor given the engine is essentially unchanged. Nobody is going to give out any prize money for setting PBs at track days after all. But I did see the elites posting 1 second improvement vs the previous model/tire combo and WSBK dudes 1.5 to 2 seconds. And this was on a 1:35 lap. Honestly, this is a very substantial improvement.
