Please help. I am considering buying a Panigale R

1. You missed my point - the comparison was made to 600s in terms of performance, but 600s will not accelerate like a 1299. A 1299 will accelerate as well or maybe a bit better than an R. You can use that acceleration on a mountain road, and the braking is just as good.

2. No one would track a Lexuc RC-F because it's a big heavy luxury sedan

3. No one is "passing judgment" on anyone, just expressing opinions. Nor am I jealous of anyone with an R is the slightest - buy what makes you happy. I do make a six figure income but don't like wasting money.

The 1299 base or S will not accelerate as fast as an R based on weight alone

The RC-F is a coupe.

20 lbs - are you serious? The 1/4 mile and 0-60 times will be virtually identical

Haha - ok mr nit pick, it's still a 4000 lb pound beast. Not a sports car in my book, of course I'm used to a 2800 lb car putting down about 400 rwhp

Vids like that make me want to relocate because the roads around here are horrible.

Nice to see Adey movin on up!

You and me both, but when I think about the taxes I would have to pay and the drinking water issues and smog, I'll stick to visiting....

That video made me feel kinda funny. Like when we used to climb the ropes in gym class.

The only reason I got the 2015 R over the 2015 1299/S is because I would loose less money long term.

I wanted and still do want a 1299 with FGRT and TTXGP Ohlins, Dymag Carbon wheels, the new Full Termi system, Rapidbike EVO + MWR HE air filter plus the usual personal changes and bits of carbon but that's spending $13,000.00 on a base model I will loose the second I cough up the money for it. Yes I would have a better bike, especially for the street where I do 75% of my riding but it's blowing money I don't feel like I could justify to myself.

The 2015 R is already done up for me and will hold it's value because its 1 of only 25 our country is getting and is an R and always will be an R. A homologated superbike with real racing credentials that everyone lusts after, a 1299 with $13,000.00 spent on it is just a 1299 with $13,000.00 spent on it and unless you're specifically after a bike with those mods they mean nothing and the value of the bike is the same as any other random 1299 at the end of the day.

So I couldn't do it to myself.

Just get what makes you happy and you can justify to yourself. For me it was the 2015 R but my recommendation to everyone I speak to would be the get the 2015 S because it'd be a better bike for the street.

SexParty why do you feel the 1299S is better for the street - seems Adey thinks the opposite, he rode the 1299S, was night and day better than the 1199R, but then the 15R is night and day better again.

I think this video may have just solved my dilema between as 1299S with full EVO Akra and lots of carbon bits versus a 15R FOR THE STREET - I think the 15R is it, roll on August

Video's is only someone's opinion your mad if you make a decision based on some you tube vid .
The truth is not one bike is really better your kidding yourself if you think one is a better street bike than the other .
If you like the wheels on one better than the other buy that one . If you like to have a bike that will be more exclusive at get more attention buy that one .

I got a 1299 base for the exact opposite reasons . I can chuck it down a track and not give a .... .

Then theres that too. Lol.

Just seems to tick all the boxes really and makes sense.

More torque which is self explanatory, shorter wheelbase which at street speeds in the corners the bike will change direction quicker and have sharper handling and the electronic suspension which you can constantly change at the click of a button harder or softer depending on the type of ride and road conditions.

All means nothing if at the end of the day you've got your heart set on something else.

Get the one that speaks to you and will make you happy because I can't talk, I commute to work everyday/got rid of my car and sacrifice comfort and practicality everyday just for corner speed and performance and couldn't be happier. Makes it all worth it when you drag your knee around that random corner you just squared off perfectly and leave your mates for dead.

I'm excited for August and when I get to pickup the new bike and everyone else on here who's got or getting their new whip. These new Panigale are trick.

I didn't get that out of the vid (as if this guy is some authority, never head of him), but of course anyone who just bought something is going to say it's "the best" - especially when they plunked down 34 large, which is more than what most people pay for a new car.

The very fact that the R just pushes power further up the rpm band means it's not any better on the street in my opinion. On a mountain road, the difference between the R, S, and (properly set-up) Base would 100% come down to the rider - a superior rider could smoke the guy boasting about his R and laugh all the way to the bank.

imo u should get what u really want. it is ur money. dont listen to anyone here. street or track doesnt even matter. get wat YOU really want.

I'm sorry gents but I believe hardly none of what I am hearing except for the above.

With all the comments, where is the review? Where is the head to head comparison? Where's the real world stats? There aren't any so a whole heap of this is based on speculation!

I have the R and believe me it is fantastic. The looks, the noise and the way the engine spools up so quickly and builds power is unlike ANYTHING (full list can be supplied!) I have ridden. But that's where it stops...........

I can tell you a lot about the R, but I haven't been on the 1299 S, so I can't even begin to tell you which is best for the road, which for the track, blah, blah, blah......... and for most of this, niether can anyone else.

It does depend on where you will do the the miles, sure, but also HOW you will do them!

My advice, get what you want, I mean actually, really want, regardless of he said, she said. If you love the look of the R and get anything less, you will always look at that R and think 'I wish I got that'. Everytime on the road, parking lot, garage, dealers it will always be staring at you!!!

I'd say the common impression is you buy the bike that gives you the biggest grin :) For me, it was the base. I can afford to crash it, it has a crazy mid range torque, and it just looks brilliant! If you feel like going into the garage just to look at it, you've bought the right one :)

Nope - there are real numbers, straight from the horse's mouth. Check out p. 28 and 34 of that cool book that came with your new bike (dyno curves)

1299: 205 hp, 106.7 lb-ft
1199R: 205 hp, 100.5 lb-ft
