For the street I'd get a 2015 Base or S - you don't need the R and won't go any faster on it. The '15 is much improved over the 1199
if you have money burning a hole in your pocket, go for it, but the R is a track machine and a waste on the street
All this what you want for the road, what you want for the track is horse sh*t.
Not at all - Ducati designed the R for the track and the Base/S for the street - period. On a mountain road you will be no faster, you might even be slower.
This is the absolute last reason why the majority of consumers buy cars/motorcycles. What a vehicle is designed for doesn't mean a damn thing to 95% or more of buyers.
True, but that's also why a lot of buyers constantly complain about their vehicle. You have a manufacturer that designed something for the track, but buyers use them on the street and complain about throttle response at low revs, excessive heat, poor mpg, uncomfortable, etc,.
Same thing on forums for cars that are track focused: Why is the car constantly tramlining on the road? Why is the ride so harsh? Anyone else getting crappy mileage out of their OEM R compound tires? Why are these tires so dangerous when it's cold and wet? The manufacturer should be sued!
This happened all too often on the Ford Focus ST forum. New members would complain that the tires were terrible in the snow and cold. That is because Ford only equipped the ST with summer only tires and the disclaimer in the supplement that came with the user manual strongly recommended that the tires not be used in less than 40 degrees temps!True, but that's also why a lot of buyers constantly complain about their vehicle. Indiana, I am insured through Geico. My building is Camden in Brickell. My Aprilia was stolen from the Four Seasons Hotel in Brickell and Geico paid on that one. They told me it will be special case since this is the second bike stolen on me.
