So the dry weight is the same as 1199SL but 15 more horsepower and $15k more? Not that I can afford one but even if I could, I'd pass.

Hi. I understand and appreciate the commments. You are right and wrong. Wrong in the sense "I am a rich guy". Getting this bike has been a dream since 1995 when I first watched Carl fogarty win a race at Donington Park on the then new 916 and seeing it after and vowing to myself one day I would own one. So little by little I saved in the hope I would get the chance.

You are right in terms of who I know. I was lucky enough to get a SL and then sent it to BSB team MotoRapido to turn into wsbk killer. I thought this my dream of 1995z. We did the bike and it's awesome. Ducati found out about it and because of this project wanted to know more. I told them my story and they offered me the RS.

My job is tough and takes me places normal people only see in movies. Sacrifice and effort take me where I go. I am mad to have got the RS but it had to be done. Yes I am lucky and fortunately Ducati Corse took a like to me. Blessed but just a normal dude. No rich guy.

great story. thank you for sharing.

Meh, doesn't seem like he had any official specs really. Although maybe he was one of the potential owners that got to view it recently.

ETA, different front end though.

That video hurt my head. I like how the "bike" is much more capable than the current SL. Whats wrong with these people?

Pretty much seemed like his personal opinion. I like how a lot of the articles about the new bike are citing this thread as their "source".

Someone on the UK forum stated 340 pounds, 215/108 with the euro 4 exhaust, 221hp with the full system and factory test rider being 2 seconds a lap quicker than the previous SL on track. It's on the internet, so it must be true.

Are those wheels available on their own? Thought someone said they'd seen them....

Received My Invite Today

Though I've been somewhat out of the game for awhile, I received this Special Invite today via email and may have to take a deeper look into this for sure!

I see someone else has already posted several of the pics from this absolutely outstanding website they have dedicated to this "Project!"
No doubt they are alluring and are certainly meant to draw us all in by what is definitely some very high class marketing - wouldn't you guys agree?

Has anyone submitted their request for admission to this event, only in Bologna correct? For anyone who HAS submitted their material, has anyone received a response back from their "Dedicated Customer Service" office about it all? Wondering who here truly intends on attending this in Bologna ???
"To book a private viewing at the factory in Bologna, contact Customer Service using one of the following methods."

Lastly, based on this statement off their website :

If you would like to be one of the lucky few to own one of the limited edition models, don't hesistate to contact your trusted Ducati dealer to reserve one.

Has ANYTHING whatsoever been released regarding the number of models being released - both in total, and of course within the US as well? Thanks!

BST Says That Doc?

BST says yes on the wheels. $3850.00 was what I heard.

Did you actually contact BST in South Africa on this, or someone here in the US? Based on the front wheel they show floating around on the site, it's pretty difficult to determine if that is one of the "Old" Style BST Wheels or perhaps something entirely new built specifically for this release. I mean, I didnt actually zoom in, print out the pic of it, and go out to my garage to see the likeness of them to the best of my ability or anything. LOL.

Since I am very fortunate to know the owner (s) of BST, I may reach out to her to see if I can pry anything out of her on these suckers. :D
If it shall be a new design, I'm literally going to beg over the phone to her just to see about getting my name on a list for ANY "New Style" they might be carving out!

***EDIT: Just scrolled up and saw the shot of the rear wheel, which I didn't see "floating around" before! Those are DEFINITELY a different style than the "Old Ones" and look SWEET IMHO!!!

Gunny. Long story short. Myself an a well known US aftermarket distributor are looking into building some "SL" type bikes. BST is one of the "potential" vendors. We made some inquiries about wheels, frames, swingarms and a CF triple. The sent us some data and numbers. Those wheels were among some of the items I saw outside the Ducati camp. The numbers I posted were indicative of "new wheel pricing" and are commensurate with some things Rotobox are working on. There is some new mfg tech in the wheels but I do not know what that means. I know BST took a media hit when those inner rim comparisons between Rotobox were posted. So from what I physically saw, the wheels that are on the 1299 SL were shown to me way before the announcement of this bike and at that time there was no mention of them being exclusive for a mfg. For me to build a custom swingarm and frame from BST I would have to put up all the tooling cost as indicated in the proposal. That tells me BST is not the frame or swing arm vendor. I also don't see them doing a CF wheel exclusively for a limited edition build. Whatever wheel comes out on that bike will be available as aftermarket. Just don't buy a set from Ducati.

Your at the event? So what does it look like? The Ducati dealership owner I spoke to said it looks like a stock SL with different paint and some new wheels. What's the scoop?

The BST info that I have came from a man named Gary. Do not know if that is the owner so if you know the guys at BST, I would go with that info
