I always had a "Hard On" for this bike. 7 miles, titled. Maybe mid $40's. Is this bike still relevant? Its almost old news now.I still want it and am contemplating it.

good price, it's an awesome awesome bike.

there are constantly new bikes around the corner but SL's,desmo's etc you don't see very often and are always special.

the new r is almost as good as the SL but I see the point of limited and numbered as long as you don't mind spending that much.

But its really hard to believe that they will sell it for mid 40k. They have one in Miami for 54k...

Well,
New 2015 1199R is $34k isnt it ? So, lets say mid 40's means $44k, so the question should be,
Is it worth paying an extra $10k for a basically new 1199SL,
So,
What do you gain for that extra $10k,
1) A Very,very limited edition and special Ducati,(worth $$$$)
2) Full carbon bodywork and special paintwork,colour/color.(worth $$$$)
3) Even lighter Mag special edition wheels, (worth $$$$)
4) Carbon subframe, (worth $$$$)
5) Same engine as the 2015 1199R.
6) Same Akro system as per 2015 1199R, BUT With the extra costly Race cans setup.(worth $$$$)
7) Lighter limited edition Ohlins (Black) Forks with Billet lowers.(worth $$$$)
8) Titanium TTX shock spring.
9) Extra race screen.
10)?
11)??

So,
for the extra $10k you get ALL of that.....

I say,
Get it bloody bought before someone else does...

I agree. If you can swing the $$$, get it.

Good point but more likely 20k more than the R. You think its still worth it? It is subjective of course. :D

Correction, the engines are not the same. The SL has Ti exhaust and intakes valves. The 2015 R does not.

I wonder if the maintenance cost on this will be more than the regular Panigale. I mean like the Desmo RR, it is one of the reason I don't want to get one now but Panigale is essentially is other Panigale with more exotic materials...

When SL came out, seem like mre Desmo RR owners jumped shipped.

In about 3 years or so, my guess is that we'll see another Desmo RR, SL or something like that.

The R DOES have titanium valves.......

Ducati Tyres

It's there to see!!

But more to the point, GET THE BIKE! Doesn't matter how close the R is to the SL. If you own an SL, you'll always have something that little bit more special ;)

Ok, let me be more clear. The 2015 Panigale R doesn't have TI exhaust valves. All Panigales have TI intake valves, and steel exhaust valves. The SL is the only bike that has TI exhaust valves.

10) tons of nuts and bolts are Titanium
11) Magnesium monocoque/airbox
12) P08 air filter
13) rear fender blockoff plate for racing (removal of number plates and blinkers)
14) different ECU, different CAN-bus messages :(
15) black nice front and rear stands
16) special bike cover
17) a lithium battery charger
18) a small gift and a nice letter from C.Domenicali
19) maybe an invitation to a cool event incl. meet-n-greet
.....

If you switch the SL to race with the provided parts, it's freakin lighter than a WSBK bike!! For 44000.-!
