Don't if anyone has the answer here
Can a Tuneboy map be loaded on to an unlocked ECU ( ie no mobilizer ) reason I ask as I have an option to buy a NOS SSTK race harness this eliminates the ignition switch ABS etc, and will only work on :-
1. Corse SSTK ECU
2. Unlocked ECU re flashed to Corse SSTK spec'
I can obtained the unlocked SSTK ECU from couple of Euro sources but would like a custom Tuneboy map onto it so maybe someone here will know if this is possible, I believe the copy / unlocking is done with Rexxer ?

Thinking about purchasing Tuneboy, to get a feeling how it works I downloaded and installed the TuneBoy and TuneEdit program (TuneBoy and TuneEdit (Ducati Marelli ECU) full install version 5.0.0) from the Tuneboy website:

TuneBoy - Engine Management Systems

It worked, but when I tried to open the 1299 tunes provided at the beginning of this post, there is an error message saying "this is not a valid TuneBoy tune".

Is there a newer version which is not downloadable????

A bit strange to me.....

Is your bike stock? I'm not expert, but I'm pretty sure you need to start with the Ducati Mitsubishi version rather than the Ducati Marelli version.

know that Paniagle has Mitsubishi ECU, my mistake.

Question to Tuneboy users? Did you order/purchase the kit directly from Tuneboy Australia/Wayne?

Wayne is talking about V5 Tunes for the 1299/Panigale R, but on the Tuneboy website you can only download a version 4.1.0 for Ducati-Mitsubishi ECU bikes.

Do you get the right software/mappings for the 1299 with the DUCATI TUNEBOY WiFi KIT (Tune and Cruise), because it's not orderable on the website, only for 899/1199?

WOW.. I did not know that "Wayne from Australia" was the entity behind Tuneboy

I used to own an E39 M5 and Wayne from "Powerchips" made quiet a name for himself on the BMW boards.. and by that I mean he made a name for being Rude, unprofessional and unresponsive.

Again, I do not own Tuneboy and don't know much about it, but I spent months dealing with the Tune his company provided for my E39 M5 and I would never buy any of his products again. Same goes for 90% of the users/owners on the E39 M5 Board.

That said, if this Wayne from Australia is not the same person as the Wayne who was involved with Powerchips, you guys can ignore this warning

Former E39 M5 owner myself. I remember that fiasco.

The very first post in this thread has a link to the v5 software... Maybe a little reading before you experiment next time will solve some of your issues?

It's not a link to the software, it's a link to the tune files (xxx.dat) for the 1299! I did read this thread from beginning, by the way.

It is 100% a link to the software and tune files. Not sure what else you need.

It is a link to the software AND tunes, inside the V5_Files.zip (which is what is downloaded when link is used) is one folder with the 1299 tunes and 3 applications, FlashMitsubishi, TuneBoyTrim and the update for the WB01...

I see, but those seem to be update programs for the installed software, not full program versions. Or am I wrong?

To purchase a key for Cruise & Tune I think.

Jogy - the V5 link has everything you need to download the software and files. I don't think you'll be able to experiment though without you purchasing a key and running through the installation process. A key is added to the registry on your PC, until that happens I don't think you can look at much. The flashmitsubishi program is purely for selecting a file and sending it to the ECU, not much to play with. The Tuneboy Trim program is the more interesting program for making alterations. I don't think either will play until you have the key and it recognises you are connected to the bike.

Try updating the wb01

The next feature is a new tuning process that allows you to tune the low throttle area using the bikes standard narrow-band O2 sensors.

The narrow-band sensors are only accurate at 14.7/1 A/F ratio; this is no use if you want to tune the motor to run at 13.2/1 but we now have a way around this.

The process is to use the narrow-band sensors to correct the low throttle area to run at 14.7/1. Once this area has been corrected to 14.7/1 we can use a % adjustment to bring the mixture down to 13.2/1.

These are the steps required:

Start the latest TuneBoyTrim program and set the AF target TP screen so it has an area showing 14.70 (See image below). No adjustments will be made unless the target is exactly 14.70.

AF_Target.jpg

Press the 'T' key to show the target screen and select "NarrowBand0-1.2v" as the O2 sensor type.

Start the motor and let it warm up.
Now press the 'a' key on the keyboard; this will turn on the auto-tune mode and you will see a dot next to "Auto tune enabled" in the target window. If you don't see the dot press the 'a' again as sometimes it does not turn on first time.

Once the auto-tune has been turned on the program will start to adjust the "Fuel TP Trim" (F) and (R) tables to try and reach 14.7/1

Once the A/F crosses 14.7/1 four times the TuneBoyTrim program will mark the point in the table as being correct. The colour of the A/F value will change to yellow.

If you put the laptop in your backpack and ride the bike you should be able to get most of the low throttle area to have yellow squares. It is a good idea to mark the throttle points on the throttle grip with correction fluid (Liquid Paper) and a pen. Using this method you know how far to turn the throttle so you collect good data.

To increase the hit rate for the A/F values you can adjust the size of the green square and decrease the sample count. The size of the green square is adjusted by going to the "Tools" and "Process log file". On this screen you can change the "RPM and throttle zone %" to a larger number, something like 40 or 45. This will collect more data.

You can also reduce the "Stable throttle for number of samples" to make it collect data sooner.

Once you change these values just click "Cancel" on the progress log screen. The values will still be changed in the target screen.

A good process would be to increase the target zone to 45 to "rough tune"; this should get the values close.

After this you should save the trim file and stop and start the TuneBoyTrim again. This time, leave the target zone set to 20. When you stop and start the program the yellow squares are reset but it should not take long for them to turn yellow again as the trim should be correct for 14.7/1

Once you are happy with the number of cells that are turning yellow you can move to the next stage.

Save the trim file with a new name so you keep a copy of the trims required to get 14.7/1.

In the new trim file you can change the AF Target TP values back so they range from around 13.2 at the bottom and get richer as the throttle increases.

Now you can select the cells in the "A/F TP" (F) and (R) tables and press the 'c' key. This will calculate the trim required to move the A/F from the 14.7 value to the new value in the target screen.

If you need to retune the low throttle area you should use the trim file you saved before doing this final correction.

Keep in mind that any cells that did not turn yellow could become too rich if you include them when you do the final correction. This is why it is better to take your time and get as many cells to turn yellow as you can.

I hope to have an iPhone app that can do the adjustment while riding. This will make it easy to see throttle position and should speed up the process.

Stay tuned!

Just recently got my bike flashed using Tuneboy. Bike is stock so using standard cruise and tune map. Were there any other benefits to the map other than different throttle power modes and CC? Like certain RPM range smoothed out, 500rpm rev limit increase, quick shift cut times optimized, secondary air circuit disabled.
Also was going to give the low rpm tuning a shot. Wanted make reference points for TPosition but noticed with key on engine off I can't see the full range of throttle it only seems to move from around 1.5 to 32% but seems to read higher or correct when bike is running. Is this normal?
I would also like to try out the iPhone application I noticed a couple here might be testing/trying it out.
All in all bike is running well and the cruise control is pretty damn sweet!!

because of the exhaust gas check that has to be done every two years -
are the oxigen sensors generally deactivated by tuneboy???
the engineer has to check their function by the official protocol
if they are still working in sport/lo power mode its no trouble
he wont recognize

Good thing we don't have that crap here.

Speak for yourself if you want to be an ignoramus. If you truly understood what's going on, you might care. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean damage isn't being done and it's not just about you. There are a lot of people with breathing problems and are far more sensitive to what's in the air than you. Even if you are healthy, you don't know the damage being done to yourself long term let alone the others, your food,
and water supply. As a collective group, motorcyclists and especially track riders don't contribute to the problem because our numbers are relatively tiny. But do try to give a dam, just a little. Being brash like the above doesn't help any of us.
