V4R or V4 25’ Anniversario 916

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

has the V4R front forks and rear shocks with the same internals in them as the R, has the 520 sprocket set of the R, the same brakes, same everything except it has lighter wheels than the R...dunno about the engine internals, but I have a Streetfighter V4S with a Termi exhaust and upmap, and this bike spins up way faster abs pulls way harder than my SFV4S...was wheelie’ ing a bit with anti wheelie set at 3 on this bike and the SFV4S won’t wheelie unless I try to in setting 1

bike handles amazing from the little bit I got out of it on a 45 minute ride home
Right, I get it but it’s still based on a v4S platform. Ducati states that on their site. (stock V4S engine) with some V4R pieces bolted on to it. The motor is the genesis of the V4 R. 520 kit is pretty much a standard upgrade for just about anyone. I guess I don’t understand what the 916 is. If it’s a V4S motor with some V4R parts why not just get the V4R and get the R motor. Perhaps I’m just confused. If the 916 is a standard S motor that thing isn’t anywhere near 234 HP at the crank.

Yeah, I think people get wrapped up in the numbers but don't realize Ducati uses the more generous horsepower formula. My standard V4 motor is *claimed* 230hp or whatever with a full system, but I recently rode a 2014 factory SBK R1 that *actually* makes 230-240hp at the crank and it was very noticeably faster.

That being said, as has been stated, few people can utilize these motors to their full potential. BSB guys are killing ignition on cylinders until higher revs to make the power more manageable out of corners.

The reality is the excitement doesn't come from the HP numbers but the motor characteristics. In that respect, the absolute madness that is the V4R revving to ungodly levels and spinning up wildly fast wins the experience factor.

I would agree with that. There are more than a few V4 S/R dyno videos out there with various exhaust systems. I’m seeing right around the high 190s for HP. Big deal, who cares. I was just confused on the bikes. If you’re buying an S with some bolt on R parts because you like the R performance upgrades, uh, just by the R and get the real deal. “Special edition” not touching that topic LOL.

The pegs were a bit to high for my old tall ... so I put the Attack Performance rearsets on and a comfort seat to give me about an extra 1.5 inches to play with, bike is perfect for me now in that regard, but it is a MUST that I get the 17/19 RCS Brake and Clutch masters on there ASAP, have them in the SF and these feel horrible and rubbery after getting used to them on the other bike.

That last bit is why I was torn about whether to get this bike or the R...

I got this one because it’s fast enough to scare/thrill me for now, but will probable handle as well as the R around curves because it has the same geometry, suspension, abs weight as the R...plus probably a little more usable grunt through most of the power range for our having fun on the street.

one of my main considerations is also that I think they will come out with a new R or similar soon because the factory race team is coming out with a new platform for 2022 so they will HAVE to come out with a new homologation and I’ll get that one win it comes out

Nice bike. R would have been cooler if Alvaro hadn't fallen apart, but he did...

I just had the exact same options presented to me. I took the 916. The 916 with full akro is just ready to go, no mods needed in my opinion. I mainly road ride, and thing is great for that purpose. Plus if you ever want to get out of the bike, the 916 may gain in value…. Hope this helps maybe. Also, I think I bought the bike you’re talking about… Newport Ducati?

It's a great looking bike, with fantastic spec!

I doubt it'll make any difference to your riding, but the forks aren't the same as the R. The R has gas pressurised forks, which you can spot at the bottom of the fork as an extra chamber. It just gives a slightly different feel.

You do have the R frame and Evo2 electronics though, which make quite a difference.

Magnesium wheels are far superior than carbon fibre, purely for the way each material deals with failure.

I think I’m going to cancel the order for my Carbon Fiber wheels and use that money to get a CF rear subframe because compared to other weight savings it’s a lot of bang for the buck, roughly 11 lbs weight savings for about $2500, and I gotta get the RCS 17 and 19 masters for brakes and clutch because I’m use to them on my other bike, the crispness of how they feel

This.

If the 916 A comes with a full system and you can't fit a full system on the R, get the 916 A.

I would rather have a V4S

Keep the Marchesini Mags on the bike. They are pretty light already.

Lol, I meant to say I'd rather have a V4S with a full system than a V4R or 916 A with the stock exhaust :)

PLEASE don't change the wheels! Or, if you do, don't tell us or post any more pics :)

Sweet as. Just one thing I would do straight away. Lose the clear stomp pads (I think they look horrible). If you need sidetank pads, the Ducati V4 ones are. actually quite nice. I'd also swap the tan pad for the carbon one. Small details, I know!

I agree with you about the clear side tank pads, they look horrible and will probably come off...i have the black V4 pads on my black SF but on this bike they break up the lines of the black on red livery, which is why I tried the clear ones.

will probably just take them off and not run any.

the tank pad though I like as is, I tried the CF look one but the one I tried was a matte finish, abs didn’t blend well with all that gloss black paint, in person the gloss black tank pad looks better than the matte carbon one.

when you riding it none of that matters though haha

I bought the 916, #36. It was too good of a deal to pass up. The guy who originally bought it dumped at least 15k into it.

same with mine, though probably 10-12k he put into it...

mine is #292...what all was done to yours mod wise?
