Do you think they will win this year? I don’t think so.

No idea and I understand where you coming from.

Watch Gerloff's last video, I think towards the end where he talks about no pace.

It's on exactly same package as Toprack and with DSSA.

Well Bautista beat him while he was on a Yamaha, but didn’t beat him while he’s on a BMW…Bautista seems to have lost something this year, possible injury. But Toprak is the same rider on a better bike this year, so the bike has SOMETHING to do with it.

Yep totally, the bike has power now. M1000rr engine is the same as V4R (well rpm crippled)

Does anyone think that in track oriented configuration ABS will be disabled anyway, so the rear brake thingie renders useless ?

It’s actually nice that the rider can make such difference. Think where they were last year and what people said about his move to BMW.

I think there is a lot of bollox talked about ABS deleting ABS etc.

with the number of fingers on the phonic ring the computer is getting new information every 6 degrees of rotation........thats a world apart from when ABS first appeared and there were 6 pins to sense from ie every 60 degrees.....

the systems now are far superior to just about every rider below a international level...

But for those how have never used the rear brake to tighten a line the new combination allows them to understand the difference without pitching themselves down. Something better learned on dirtbikes otherwise.

Fair enough, but those are professional riders, I actually think the gap of improvement with us may be higher than a second, because most of us aren’t pushing these bikes to their limits. If more of the bike’s speed is accessible to us then our margin of gain in real life is improved.

If the old bike was at a 10 and the new bike is at a 10.5, pecco improves by 0.5

But me and you are only riding these bike at 6 out of 10…if we move to a bike that lets us ride at 8 out of 10.5 then me and you got ALOT faster.

Accessible speed is more important than top possible speed for guys like me and you.

Aren’t you riding better/faster on a more analog bike with less power?

These bikes don’t make you a better rider. Time and practice and proper fundamentals make you a better rider. Electronics are just safety nets and actually make you slower

I don’t think it’s as black and white as that. A very low level rider should go more analogue on a much lower powered bike. But a decent rider say mid to upper end of Group A at a minimum will benefit from REALLY GOOD electronics on a bike as powerful as a Ducati V4.

Because it will help you manage all that power better. The key is if the electronics are done REALLY well or not, so they are actually helping not interfering.

I’m not saying that the new Ducati is a better bike than going lower power and more analogue…I’m saying that the new bike will help people access the power of the Ducati better.

I think we’re starting to see marginal gains with electronics. The most noticeable helpful difference will most likely be the revised tank shape

The new motors will make slightly more power when they're completely derestricted and tuned. I agree the tank/seat is way better. I think for the 1103 FE they need to make one with R cams, R throttle bodies and manifolds, and 2 mm bigger intake valves. 260-270 hp? No matter what really zippy.

But isn't this the dilemma. You propelling people with lower and lower skill levels faster and faster. It's that mass times velocity squared thing. Are you not having more fun with your current track bike? The key thing it's lighter and since I think you stuff any KTM into any KTM if you end up needing more motor do a thousand or an 1100. The bike will still be lighter and since you'd already learned the chassis you'll actually go faster with more motor. And then you'll be even faster on a R with all the electronics. More AI doesn't make the average guy a better rider, it makes him think he's a better rider.

Wow good thing I took the time to share my thoughts on the new bike and my experience at WDW. @SuperDomestique + @panibadboy can just lead the way from their keyboards...

Right right. Seeing it in the flesh probably gave you a ton of insight into how it rides and handles. If you were lucky, you may have even gotten to sit on it and make revving sounds and gotten a picture. That is after you got back from that lovely meal in Milan…

We ALL need to ride it first and have some skill set to judge it, before we can talk.....like many topics in real life.
At the moment we can talk about exterior design and what the TRUE RIDERS are saying ( but we know that they cannot officially say everything they think, at least to the mass ).

i spend time with the people that design and ride these bikes.

If you have such a good understanding of these bikes and this world why are you so slow?

La de daaaah... I live down the road from DNA and run into Ducati bigwigs every once in a while. Even got to pick the brains of the engineers recently. All this “faster this” and “better handling that” is all marketing BS. It’s easy to see through if you’re not blinded by the allure of the brand. It also helps if you’re a cynical prick.

Am I slow? Are you fast? It's all relative. How many trackdays have you won?
