Fbto,
Let's see your HP4.
I am working on some good shots. Here is an old one.

I mean, were not going to kick her out of bed in the morning

Now your really talking rubbish, and showing your ignorance.
I'm really starting to wonder how old you are at this point in time.
Ok, so you say you're not an engineer. I'm fine with that
But your statement regarding the looks of the BMW are a function of some sort of (box headed) engineering excellence or what ever it is your using in your mind to rationalizing the looks of the ugly ....... thing, is pure and absolute bunkum my friend
There are any number of ways to achieve an engineering outcome.
BMW, or the box heads for that matter do not hold the exclusive rights to the only pathway to absolute engineering excellence.
BMW have simply chosen to follow a particular styling pathway to differentiate their products in the market place.
You silly boy
They specialize in ugly. Got it.
You've seem to well and truly bought into the BMW (blue and white) cool aid garbage.
IMO, With the exception of the 507, 635, the later M3's and the HP2 sport everything in their line up is unattractive/ugly to some degree.
I've said it before, that If they(BMW) ever get around to employing some decent stylists (and engineers for that matter) DUCATI will be in real trouble.
You're starting to embarrass yourself with such silly and nieve comments
Yes Daddy! Show me the way old wise one! Don't hate me cause I am younger than you. I am only 19.
I haven't seen such rabid fanboy-ism since the old WoW vs EQ vs DAoC days You're essentially calling the man who designed the bike a liar. All because you can't accept the fact there is such a strong competitor from a different manufacturer than yours.
But let's accept your argument for a second. That there is no engineering reason behind the s1k's looks. Then it is pure marketing genius. My bike is easily recognized without the roundel among anyone who actually rides. And its looks are unique enough to get anyone with an interest in riding to investigate more and discover the performance stats, which are unarguably impressive. Which is the point of marketing.
As for the topic, why are so many up for sale, I doubt most have anything to do with dissatisfaction or chronic issues. The proof is all over this thread and the forum. Most Ducati owners I've met love their bikes more than almost anything, ranking right up there with family / friends / loved ones. If anything, the dealer service available to the owner is a bigger cause of dissatisfaction than anything. And that affects any vehicle, regardless of the number of wheels.
Or you can blame disposable income. When it comes to bikes in this price range and caliber, the people who can truly afford them can truly afford to sell them to buy a newer model. I can easily see people selling an almost new bike to buy a 1199R. Hell I traded my 1 year old (3k miles), mostly paid off ($4000 to go) s1000rr for a HP4. Traded because I didn't want to go through the bother of private sale which would have netted more money than trade.
Today at work I was reviewing in my mind your apparent lack of knowledge, your demeanour, and your level of understanding of realities.
Surprise, surprise, I thought you might have been under 20.
Then I thought how could a hairy assed kid under 20 afford a HP4?
The kid's from a wealthy family, with a BMW or 2 in the garage was the first option. So you don't know anything else other than sipping the blue coolaid from the BMW teat. You'd certainly fit the profile of the typical younger aged BMW customer perfectly. (clueless)
Second option, was you're working as a male sex worker with predominately wealthy middle aged desperate women clients But I think you'd be more street smart and wouldn't ask such silly questions or make such silly statements. So I think we can rule that one out.
Third option, was your selling drugs. I don't really want to go there
I wish good luck to you though
In case you're wondering.
For the record, I'm an old retro grouch curmudgeon with a lot of real world experience.
Fbto.... You came to this forum and posted what could easily be called an argumentative post as you first contribution... Despite accusations to the contrary you claimed that you were not trolling but simply seeking information about the 1199 with a view to perhaps buying one....
Many here have entertained you prepositions and opinions and tried to answer your somewhat controversial standpoint....
Now it seems that you are being mendacious about your personal information ie age... just simply to have people draw conclusions about your modus operandi... only for you then to point out they are wrong because you gave false information... This is trolling... pure and simple...So I ask you in good faith....Are you seeking genuine answers to make an informed choice with regards to the Panigale...or are you stirring the pot for stirrings sake??? Which is it?? Do you wish to be part of this awesome forum and be prepared to post in a consistent fair and reasonable manner?? If so then you are welcome to post to this and other threads.... Or do you want to labeled as someone just here to be contradictory???
My intention was never to stir any pot. Was it not you, the MOD, who said this is making for interesting reading? Is this no longer interesting?
If someone comes with a valid point of view.. its interesting...yes.... Posting deliberately false info just to elicit a response is not...
I find it funny that other riders, especially BMW or Aprilla owners feel the need to sign up on Ducati Panigale Forum to justify themselves of owning whatever the ... they own and ride. Go ride your bike be happy, if not, trade it in and get something else...not necessarily a Ducati but whatever makes you happy. No need to justify to others what you have, like, want, wish to have, or whatever.
Sir, I have never tired to justify my ride. I signed up cause I like the 1199 and want one. I was even debating when I signed up if I should mention my current ride. And I am not looking to replace my bike, but to augment!
I don't need Ducati owners to chime in on my BMW. It was never a topic of conversation for me. It was the many 1199 owners who could not answer my question that choose to bash the BMW as their only source of defence.
Lol, the joke is on you!!
I am really a 44 year old sex worker!! My women (clients) are older but not desperate.
And I love kool aid!
And for the record, I drink from the honda bottle. This is my first non honda bike. I have been riding for over 20 years. Raced a few on track. Lived next to deals gap. And have logged many thousands of km on a bike. Also ride dirt bikes and do lap days in my C63.
I have zero brand loyalty. I ride what I like.
I understand you guys love the 1199, but it's funny how you will justify your 20/30k+ purchase in your head no matter how bad it might be. And then call it character. It's no doubt the Italian mentality is all about looks and style. And for that, the 1199 wins. But don't accuse me of fanboy behaviour. Look at yourself first Mr .....
Fbto- What does this abbreviation stand for ?
