I think the front end of the base model looks quite allright, specially on the picure taken at the Dutch dealership

I'm really curious to see what the headlight looks like when lit up. The sad reality s that's what most people are paying $5,000 extra on the S for, as most won't even notice the difference in the rest of the goodies :D .

I actually prefer the less bright finish on the base forks (so the ideal for me would be the Ohlins forks with the Marzocchi finish), it detracts less from the lines of the bike; and contrary to most, I like the red fender too. I'd also like to black out most of the silver colored stuff around the footpegs, including the pegs themselves.

Yeah it be funny the STD Pani rates better in the match ups and handles better/ quicker track times when the testers do manual set up of suspention...not knocking the S at all, love em just the same

Arrived.......

^ I know it's the base model, but Ducati could have at least included the windscreen and mirrors! ;)

Jokes aside, the base looks great! Hope to have mine soon.

Here's a Photoshop picture with a black front fender like the S.

I think the gold forks really help with the black front fender. It might be too much of a black hole with the all black wheels and the black lowers etc.

Excellent. Those clip-ons do look really wide, but don't look higher, at least in the third picture. I guess it's just the perspective. She's a beauty, no doubt. Not doubting my decision at all looking at those pictures, thanks for posting. :) More when you get a chance please.

I know this is a totally superficial statement, and has no bearing on anything, other than for me. But I like the way the triple clamp and fork tops (together), rear shock, and wheels (including their deeper black color), front fender, fork finish, slider finish look better than the S/Tri combination. Now I just wish it had the LEDs.

p.s. This is the opinion of the writer only, no one else was consulted in making up my mind, flame on!
p.p.s. Yes, I realize the performance will be affected - unsprung mass, less compliancy, etc
p.p.p.s. Yes, I would have a S/Tri if money were no object, or at least less of one :)

Don't be too apologetic about your opinion, it doesn't fit the forum:D

I got the base myself because of the money, still think it's the best bang for the buck and seeing the first pics I think the front end looks bitchin'. Love the black stanchion tubes with the red fender and the anodized legs look a bit more moderate than the candy-yellow of the Ohlins on the S.

Hi gentleman. I'm looking at the standard as well, and have the same opinion that the previous 2 posts shared regarding the looks of the standard being more appealing. I am a sucker for Ohlins as I had front and rear on my 08 ZX-10r and noticed a huge improvement in performance & ride on that bike (and looks), but I'm really hoping to hear soon some feedback on the standard's suspension performance (hoping it's pretty good) and how it compares to the S. This will be my first Ducati (love at first sight!) and crossing my fingers the bike lives up to the hype..can't wait to find out!

Arrived.......

Bolds, lurverly...........the base is a beautiful looking bike, love the wheels and the marzochi's and IMO looks better with the red front mudguard. Was going to order the carbon front mudguard, but from your pics I am not going to bother.

Let us know how you get on..........oh and is your rear suspension set to F or P?

Where did you order from? curios, as mine shouldn't be far away - hoping to hear this week.
