My firm is sending me to DC for a rotation from mid January to late April, potentially May. I hate to leave the weather and the beautiful Latin ladies in Miami but I have no choice. What is the riding scene like in this area and what is the weather like during this period? I plan to bring up the Panigale and am curious what the riding will be like. Also, is VIR close by for track days and when would those begin? Thanks!

Hey brother. When I got into my truck this am it was 18 frigging degrees!! You can forget any riding here until spring unless you're one of those hardcore all weather riders and have good gear as well. I assume you have a place to store the bike while here? We can talk offline on PM if ya want but if you need a place to keep it I have room next to mine? Where are you going to be staying- city etc?

As far as VIR, you'd have to check their schedule to see when they start up again but from here you're looking at a good 3-4 hour ride at least depending on traffic- and umm, start mental mindset preparation with meditation and deep breathing because you're gonna be in a state of shock around the beltway!! If you're interested in some track time Summit Point is a decent track and only a bit over an hour from metro DC. They did it over a couple years ago and it's in good condition. When looking at it be sure to check for Summit "Main" and not Shenandoah- which is nothing but tight turns and on the pegs the entire day! Main is a good track but someone gave you good info my man- VIR is the cats meow for sure!! ;)

If you need any other info, including a place to service your bike at all while here hit me up via PM. We also have a pretty good little group of members off here that meet up on a regular basis too. Here to help ya out brother so just lemme know!

Gunny out.....

Gunny pretty much summed it up. A few of us are up for rides and have a few good roads and destinations to end up at.

Don't discount Summit, it's not too far from you and a hell of a track.

True that Germ.
Hey btw, didn't you day you needed a place to store your bike this winter? What happened with that bro?
And also, Jason told me you now have an even hotter and faster sports car dude?? Wtf over- why havnt I seen this yet? :)

Gunny, thank you and I appreciate everything. My firm has not worked out the details of my stay yet but they have promised to put me close to the city. I figured it would be cold up there but was hoping there might be a break from time to time. We are freaking out down here since it went down to 55 last night which is about the coldest it has been in a couple of years so I am in for a big change. I will definitely reach out to you guys when I arrive. Thank you

Hey guys, I made it to DC and I am absolutely miserable. It is extremely cold as Gunny, etc predicted. My bike is in Miami and I am curious if or when will the weather improve here? I am staying until the end of March and would like to get the bike up here if possible but I not not want to lose any limbs to frostbite. Thanks

Hope your sitting down. About when your leaving is when it starts warming up.

Ok I appreciate the honesty. Maybe I should just shoot myself and get it over with now.

Are there any bars here that show the motoGP or World Superbike races? It would be cool to at least mingle with the bike crowd while I am up here. It sounds like it is not worth the effort to bring my bike up here.

Since it's too cold for a bike night, let's setup a meetup this month. It's always cool to meet the people behind the screen names.

Hey guys. I have not died in the cold yet and I am having my bike shipped up here from Miami and it arrive this Sunday Let's try to set a ride sometime soon if possible. Weekends only until tax season ends for me.

I am living in Foggy Bottom right by GWU. I occasionally work in Tyson's corner but spend the rest of the week in DC. I could meet up anywhere for a ride and I am here till April 17.

Thanks!
