The tri imo is the sexiest bike ever made. If they still did it. I would buy that without question over any other. And that sale for $19,900 ended the day before I went to my dealer to talk about a deal. :(

that deal is still in nj if you are interested i will pm you the dealer and person i was there yesterday

I test rode the s and base. Have problems with my neck so critical I got it right.
Bought base with suspension set up for me worked out perfect!! If base is set up properly it's brilliant

Thx duchess you. See the reason its not just go and pick it cervical/neck issues. Did you have issues with the marzocchis?

Can anyone tell me does the 1199 come with the passenger pegs and arms or do i pay extra for them. Every pic on ducati and all the demos at my dealer dont have them installed.

Thx double O and phl.

Phl thats good to know and i dont think i would need to torque then since we just ride 5 mins inside a subdivision area.

OO you have a pic of the carbon cut?

Which color is most popular on the S. Red or Black. Ive seen 3 black S's and no red's. Almost the time to get it.

Why not just get the color you want??

I bet red has sold more than black...who cares, I still want mine to be red....:)

Because now after seeing the red s in person i like the both same. :(

I have just traded my 2013 base on a new S. I put 8500 kms on the base and loved every minute. I initially wanted the S but played it "safe" with the cash. If faced with the same decision initially I would say go the S.

BTW It can only be red.

the black is cheap and scratches ez... a have total mine last week and im getting a red one...

i did 15000 km sinse july this year with no problem but the black matte pain

im olmost glad ive recked the bike just for that ...... black paint.

and get the S its a piece of art in red or white ... not the black

the black is the nicesst in the show room

Reason I got the standard was because I won't be on the track enough to enjoy the suspension upgrade of the S. Why spend $4k-$5k more for basically a higher tech ohlins suspension when it won't be used to it's full capacity for anywhere near the majority of the time??! Same 195hp motor I have and that's a large portion of what drew me to the 1199 over the 899. If you'll be tracking the bike often then that's a different story. Depends on what you're gonna do. I say buy the standard and get a ton of goodies for it :D. And RED of course hahaa.

Don't kid yourself over the use of ohlins on the street where better suspension that can handle rough pavement helps even more.

You don't have to push the bike to enjoy great suspension.

The difference is worth it.

I keep thinking back to Kope's response on a similar matter a while back in another thread. He and some other friends that have similar $$$$-modded 1199s love to go the track, and another friend who has a bone stock 1199 base goes with them and is the fastest of their group. It's the Indian, not the arrow.

However, like outhouse says, you don't have to be the fastest guy in the zip code to appreciate nice suspension and the difference it makes in increasing confidence - which is the point of a good handling bike, right?

I used to be really into photography, before the digital age, actually. I got back into it when my son was born a few years back and got a modern Canon DSLR setup. Knowing the difference great lenses make, I wanted to get some "L" lenses, which average $1500-$2000. Too many hobbies and other expenses made me look to the aftermarket "value" lenses and with top-end Sigma-brand lenses I can get 80%-90% of what "L" lenses produce, but at $500-$800. I still want those "L" lenses, just like I would love an 1199R. But the $10,000 of mods over 1.75 years on my base that I bought new for less than $16,000 makes me very happy and fit my situation perfectly.
