Guys
Lets just end it here, no pointing fingers at countries as instigators of wars..
We as men and women have an obligation to look within ourselves and "exorcise" our own inner demons that we all have…If you need some holy book to tell you how to live your life, that's your right, but just as I and some others believe that God is a fictitious character, that is OUR right and we don't need anyone telling us otherwise. That being said, we as a race must take responsibility for our actions and not point fingers at others who may not follow our beliefs or doctrines.

That being further said , it is my belief to the bible fanatics…No "God" can save you now… Only you can save "you" from yourself….

If you need some holy book to tell you how to live your life, that's your right

Ha - yeah, just "write your own holy book". I just shake my head at the Biblical illiteracy rate in 2015 (that will change).

Go ahead, write your own stuff and see if it's still read in 3500 years, or if any of your predictions come true. No one addressed a single point I made, which is all too typical in these debates. Just random blather with no facts.

but just as I and some others believe that God is a fictitious character

But you believe in Satan, or that was a joke?

That being further said , it is my belief to the bible fanatics…No "God" can save you now… Only you can save "you" from yourself….

Huh?

God is the final Judge and jury - to "which we must all must give account". The real question should be who will I really have to answer to?

I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now I am alive forever, and I hold the keys of death and Hades.

There's the answer - and nothing else really matters in this short life. Those with "ears to hear" will get it but most will not get it, it's a world of many weeds and little wheat.

Yes it was a joke
I don't believe in Satan

So please tell us ignorant ones once again the premise for your argument of why you think there is a creator ? Just so we know your point and no one is missing it or not acknowledging it

Back to post 9 - evolution (adaptation/speciation/selection/genetic drift) doesn't explain anything about origins. Naturalists substitute "God did it" (a phrase they love to use in mocking derision) with "mutations did it" - and they really funny part is they call the latter "science". More proof everyone still breathing is religious (i.e. everyone believes in concepts they cannot prove, almost always based on what they heard from the media or claimed "experts" - but there are no experts with origins, no one has first hand experience)

Fzr you are an interesting person, I am captivated by your line of thinking and have respect for your argument....that being said, Unfortunately I, like many, are individuals who need to see concrete evidence, and by concrete I mean .. I need to see and experience this creator first hand in my lifetime because if I don't see any visuals or materializations of this creator... I just don't see how it could exist even if 3500 year old scriptures says it does....

Thanks - I appreciate that, and understand the need for tangible evidence. I presented some lines of evidence, but acknowledge there is no "proof" - faith will always be required, whatever you believe about origins/ultimate questions (faith is also required to believe bacteria morphed into humans over "millions of years"). For those God has called, the scripture resonates. The best advice I can give is spend some time alone with the scripture, no distractions. The Gospel of John is a good start, and ask God if He is real to reveal Himself to you. If you read through the entire Gospel and nothing moves you, you only lost a couple hours out of your life.

By your logic, the religious scripture that is the oldest and that is still being read today is the most legitimate.

Can I invite you to explore Hinduism? Ganesh may not have died for my sins, but he likes peanuts, and so do I. I think I'm on to something...

Religion can be such a heated subject and I certainly don't want to offend anyone... After I was dead for 9 seconds .... They resuscitated me and I have no recollection of a white light or tunnel of light..,

This has always been my compass because I had "risen " after my death back to life after the help of science ( doctors) no one was waiting for me on the other side, no light...nothing ....so I've come to preach my "good news" to all of you...believe what you want but don't get to caught up in what you think is awaiting for you... I am lucky to be part of a group of few who have died and come back to life and can say .... It was "lights out" ... No Angels waiting for me, no family members, no Moses, no arch angel Gabriel or Jesus or God or the Devil.......

It's only Lights out ![emoji52]

I have a friend that went through the same thing you did.. He reported the same thing.. He had a rather peaceful experience however he had not really died. He was in a state of coma.. He did stop breathing and his heart did stop for a moment but he was revived.. His soul never left him. He WAS in a NEAR death experience much like I believe you were. (near death being the key word ) I look at these books written by people about their experiences of near death or going to see the bright light etc with some skepticism. I have heard Doctors talk about the chemical changes within the synapses of the brain and how certain stimulation can cause images of bright lights etc. This may explain some of the experiences. Who really knows.. I believe that once you are dead your soul leaves you body. Then comes judgment All will bow before God Mighty and small.. Your belief in no afterlife I am sure, gives you comfort because you have chosen not to believe in an afterlife. It is totally understandable. A person could have cancer and chose not to believe it but that doesn't change the fact that his body is dying. We are all in a slow process for dying.. time waits for no one. W all only have a certain shelf life on this earth..

Once you are REALLY dead comes the judgment. Jesus declared that the great gulf between hell and heaven is fixed" meaning that no one can ever travel from hell to heaven or from heaven to hell.. But what if an occupant of hell decides to believe in Jesus Christ and then accepts His Forgiveness? It is too late. Jesus taught that in Hell EVERYONE is a believer..!
No one is good enough on their own.. Unbelievers will spend eternity in hell, not because they are not good but because they are not good enough! With out the washing away of all their sins from the payment of Christ's sacrifice on the cross they have no hope.. Whether you believe or not is your choice.. Most don't and will find out they were dead wrong when it is too late.

Unlike all the other religions Only Christianity says that there are no to-dos because everything required for us to receive God's forgiveness for our sins has been done by God himself.. All we much do is receive the gift that God
offers..
All other religions require us to DO something to hopefully EARN our way in.. We can never be GOOD enough. It is quite simple but so hard for most humans to understand because we all feel like we must earn it somehow.
God offers to forgive us of our every failure to keep His laws on the basis of what Christ has done for us. Not what we have done for Him! Unlike every other religion in the world. Christianity does not require that we EARN Gods favor in exchange for His forgiveness. It doesn't even allow us to try...

Every time I get on my bike.. Every time I get on a racetrack I realize just how short life could be. We ride some really fast bikes and there is always a chance that we might not come back from a ride. We ALL have to face our creator someday... I am in the insurance business.. Insurance companies use statistics to base their actuarial rates.. So far the mortality rate among humans is 100% LOL.
We all are going to die someday.. Will you be ready?

Eternity is a long time.. where do you want to be forever? In the smoking section or the non smoking section LOL..
OK sermon over.

I appreciate your thoughts and respect your argument....

I guess I like a lot of non believers are wondering why would a God create us and put conditions on our existence?

This sounds to barbaric for an intelligent entity. " do as I say, or else?"

The universe is so huge and complex that man/ science is only starting to touch on the outer layers of its origins and still they find it confusing ... So why would such an intelligent entity come up with a puzzle like the universe, so advanced and mind boggling to conversely act like a simpleton in comparison and lay laws on mankind with repercussions ?

Those two juxtapositions don't add up

Beyond Genius on one hand
And then perverse and sadistic on the other ??

Hmmmm

I have been where you are In questioning it all . In fact I wouldn't trust anyone who said they didn't have any doubts one way or another.
I find some things in the old testament to be strange hard to believe. I just chalk it up to I am not God.
so Is your question "why would God set rules for me" as if you are saying why does he care about me . I still ask that question
look how huge the universe is it is possibly bigger than man can even comprehend .
think of what we knew yesterday what we know now.
people still don't understand gravity .
newton thought the apple was being drawn to earth by gravity and now science thinks it was being pushed .
I love science and philosophy but when I look up at the stars I get the overwhelming thought of
"no frigging way did this just happen all by it's self"
your heart stopped for nine seconds and that in your mind trumps all the miracles you've experienced since ( you're alive; for example )
any how I completely understand your doubt

Ultimately it's a military type order, with rank, position, and authority - the angelic realm is also this way. Everything God does is done in order, and the universe itself functions by precise Laws that can be expressed mathematically - Einstein marveled at this I might add, and another reason origins by chaos is nonsense.

Those who refuse to get in line will be discarded, it's really that simple. Rebellion is not tolerated, atheists have zero future. Read the letters to the 7 Churches in Revelation sometime, Christ as Judge and Executioner has good and negative things to say about each church except the last one, which is symbolic of our time. How much worse for those who hate God?

How is demanding that man follow Laws acting like a simpleton? I don't follow that logic.

Your God is not a simpleton I assume but his rules are ...,
The very fact that there are conditions put on our existence means he can't exist .... Why would he create us? Boredom ??
Nope, perfect entities wouldn't get bored ...

This argument for and against will go on forever
Except , you are claiming that you believe in something you have never seen or has actually made itself known to mankind in the last century ....
You might as well believe in the tooth fairy because there is NO way of proving it doesn't exist [emoji106]

Why would he create us?

Already answered this, God does everything for His ultimate glory.

Hebrews 12

You have not come to a mountain that cannot be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom and storm; to a trumpet blast or to such a voice speaking words that those who heard it begged that no further word be spoken to them, because they could not bear what was commanded: “If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned to death.” The sight was so terrifying that Moses said, “I am trembling with fear.”

But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

You might as well believe in the tooth fairy because there is NO way of proving it doesn't exist

The "big bang" and "mutations did it" is the tooth fairy in reality - this is the great irony of the self professing "intellectually elite", who will all revealed to be fools. You don't get there by your puny intellect, no man does...they are mysteries beyond any human understanding.

Answering a question by continuing on with the dialogue that is in question doesn't really answer anything.

It appears that the people here who are content with their position have accepted that we should agree to disagree. The other side seems to be concerned with implementing their beliefs on others and making those beliefs/opinions appear to be fact.

" for his ultimate glory"
Is not an explanation
Plus we as humans turned up so late in the span of the Universe, what took "it" so long to create us?

Ps- why do you quote the bible if it is a written and re-written document by man.. it's not written by your God and therefore can't be a credible document when speaking on this entities behalf

"for his ultimate glory"
Is not an explanation

It's an explanation you don't like, but it is a perfectly logical explanation. The entire universe exists to glorify God - "The Pleasures of God" by Piper is a great read if you're interested in the more complex theological issues/challenges. Human "free will" is ultimately an illusion, nothing will continue to exist that does not bring God glory. As Christ said, he could raise up rocks that would glorify Him if needed. At the end of the age the chaff is burned up and the wheat will remain. This sounds "self centered" to the carnal mind, but God is absolute perfection dwelling in unapproachable light, the Source of everything, so all these carnal little human objections fail. Anyone who questions God at the Judgment will hear the rebuke of Job, only worse "where were you?"

Plus we as humans turned up so late in the span of the Universe, what took "it" so long to create us?

That's more evolutionary log age indoctrination. "M/billions of years" is always based on one of two lines of evidence 1) radiometric dating of rocks, the foundational assumptions of which can't possibly be verified, and is wildly erratic from formation to formation and essentially worthless - the lava dome at Mt. St. Helens dates at "millions" - means nothing, 2) light from distant stars, which is a measure of distance, not time - if the universe expanded at greater than the speed of light simplistic extrapolations are similarly worthless

In fact, ALL long age Darwinist speculations are based on reverse extrapolation back through vast imaginary eons, with no time trend data in hand - that isn't science and never will be - true science is observable, testable, and verifiable in real time
