Part #7:
AELLA Frame Slider in Custom Titanium Gold Color

Installing this require removal of the fairing so I decide to do this next time...

The Aella frame sliders look just like the CNC sliders. I had originally ordered those, but when I recieved them, the sliders look so flimsy. They seem like they would just snap off in an actually fall /drop. I returned them and went for the Sato frame sliders instead.

I agree with you, they don't look robust in the event of a fall down.

Initially, I only want to buy the AELLA tie down so I can have extra tie down point when I pick up this bike from Reno. Still, I want to have the AELLA tie down in custom color. The cost of the custom anodizing color is quite high (around $135 through Motovation), however if I buy another parts, then that anodizing cost can be shared equally.
So I decided to order the AELLA frame sliders because their design looks very nice, and they are the only company that allow a one off custom anodizing (as far as I know).

Having said that, their turn around for custom anodizing and shipment from Japan is quite fast! only about 3 weeks. Motovation is also a great company to deal with.

That is very nice display. Those parts really tell history. Thanks for the pictures Paul, it gives me some ideas for my project.

this is a good thread, enjoy every picture! Keep them coming!

I’m the same age as you, worked in a dealership as well. Raced couple years.

now I enjoy looking at pretty bikes. Schedule to take my bike on the track to stretch her legs a bit in the distant future.

I like to know what are your plans for after market mirrors? Please do share when you come to a decision

Hi TsaiCo,
Thanks for your kind comment.
I do not plan to install after market mirrors or the standard mirrors.

Last night, I just ordered Ducati OEM Front and Rear Paddock Stand plus the Ducati Performance Carbon Tank Pad Protector.
I contacted Dynamoto if they are willing to produce their stand in RED color instead of their Orange, however, they only produce Black color as alternative to Orange but not RED.
Eventually, I will need to buy those Dynamoto stand just to make my life easier moving the bike in my living room (when I need to install the modified parts), but maybe later...

Now it’s making more sense as to why you would rather keep this bike on display, Alpina.

It truly is a show piece tho and keeping it on display means that it will be perfectly clean forever

Yes, DucatiKev,
I am glad that
JHTmcrider
is ok and not hurt bad, hopefully his neck will recover soon.

Another thing is,
JHTmcrider
is lucky that he had witness that saw the whole thing and willing to be witness because without witness, I am sure people will be prejudice and think the person on a Panigale is just going too fast, while the "nice lady" on a car is the victim,
where in reality, driving a Panigale on the street did not mean you are a reckless or bad rider...

Yeah, wow. We should be recording everything on the filthy streets. If a dash cam is important, a helmet cam has gotta be 100x more important.

I am glad you got a real special bike to showcase as opposed to “another red bike”

how many miles are actually on your odometer? Just a few from pre delivery inspection or were those scrubbed?

My bike had 4 miles on it, I don't know whether it was only from factory or not...

Here is the background story: I contacted all dealers in the US that have a 916 Anniversario in stock just to find one with a Serial Number on The Upper Triple Clamp that I like.
There were around (over) 25 bikes still available for sale in the US, of all those bikes available, I only find one bike with a serial number that I like which is #210. Other bikes available either have some "random non special number" or even bad number...

Unfortunately, this bike#210 were already sent to the owner of the dealer for his private collection and most of the "special parts" had been installed by the dealer. I insist to the dealer that I will only buy if they sell me this bike #210, and they agree to pick up the bike again (from Las Vegas where the owner of the dealer located) back to Reno and sell it to me. Even if the owner of the dealer ride it, its only 4 miles so I am ok :D as long as I can have a bike with serial number I love.

Below is the picture of the upper triple clamp with the serial number:

Hello Paul,

I used to have the original Ducati 916 in 1995. I used to ride motorcycles everyday and ride it hard. I am now close to 50 years old, have 2 sons, one going to college this year, one in junior high school and a wife.
My wife is a housewife. So I have a lot of responsibility in my hand and need to be alive.

One of my business friend just died 3 weeks ago from a motorcycle accident.
My uncle died about 20 years ago from a motorcycle accident.
My college roommate older brother paralyzed for more than a year before eventually die after his bike was hit from behind
My college friend hit by a jeep wrangler on Angeles Crest (California), broke his pelvis (and his gas tank) and had to go back home to his country never finished his college and never marry after the accident.

I used to own Aprilia exclusive distributor at my home country in the year 2000 until 2005 and also own a motorcycle racing teams.

Oh, on my way back from Reno 2 days ago (where I pick this bike), I saw a biker riding harley davidson having accident on the freeway, not too far from a Harley dealer, seemed like a reminder for me to be careful, stay alive and be there for my sons and wife instead of having too much fun and get into trouble.

Some people need to ride their bike to enjoy it, some people just need to modify their bike and enjoy it as well without the need to ride it.
I had enough fun driving fast on a motorcycle (in the past) and now just want to own a very nice ANNIVERSARIO theme bike for EYE CANDY and SENTIMENTAL NOSTALGIC Purposes.
That is more than enough to make me happy without having to ride it. I hope I answer your question ;)

Oh, one last thing, I am also an engineer, so I guess, instead of displaying painting/antique porcelain, I rather display a marvelous piece of engineering in my living room and admire it :D
I know exactly what you are taking about, I am 57 and have raced bikes since I was 16 I only stopped racing a few years back, I won't ride on the road anymore but I have 18 motorcycles that I have just to Tinker with and occasionally track days. I'm building a V4R that will be mostly for display, I have an engineering workshop and made a few custom parts already, new rear link and swingarm pivot, I just need to work out how to upload pictures

Hello Bruce Wayne,
May I know why you machined a new rear link for your V4R? Are you lowering or raise the bike height?

I am now still undecided between buying this link from AELLA to lower the bike: ローダウンリンクプレート(PanigaleV4) | AELLA オンラインショップ
or
to change the spring rate to 80N/mm (from current stock spring rate at 95N/mm) because at this moment, the bike have no sag at all when I sit on it (I currently weight 145 lb).

The STD link is Too progressive mine is more linear we fitted a 9.0 spring and it was still too stiff half way through the stroke. I will post a picture as soon as I can work out how. Ride height is the same.

Hi Bruce Wayne,
To post a picture, you need to click on the button with this image Capture.PNG
Then you can either drop and drag or click again (where it say click here) then browse from your hard drive in your laptop/PC.
However, this website limit the size of the picture so you might need to resize to "web large" size.

I hope you can upload pictures soon :)

Why wear a helmet cam when you can have this?

That's a great idea, but it only captures what is directly in front of you. At least with a helmet cam, you can point in different directions or what you want to "capture", I guess.

With this as well and the wide angle of the cameras, you are pretty much covered all around.

But yes, I guess with a helmet cam you see where you are looking, which can also have negatives of not seeing something because you are looking elsewhere or the video moves around a lot.

Haha yeah, meanwhile, Alpina is more focused on giving himself a few home security camera angels on his display piece.
I do love how well integrated your cameras are installed, Arctic
