Low rpm range is where the most difference is , the difference is chalk and cheese! I too was advised to keep it above 4k mostly to avoid fouling plugs , after the update my tech took it for a test ride and said when he returned "you could probably cruise at 3k now ,it's that much smoother". When I rode it home the difference was very obvious to me. I am not quite sure what the debate is all about , it's as simple as this, if your bike does not have this update there is a big improvement available to you

I agree.
I'm also rather confused as to the extent of the debate(or other) on the matter, and the extra ordinary lengths/attempts to debunk the validity of the outcome and or it's very existence.

As you say.
If you've already got it then all is good:)
For those that don't already have it, then it will be better than it ever was before when you finally do have it installed;)

I'm all for healthy scepticism. This is the internet after all.
But when the scepticism meter slips deep into the negative region, it sadly has a stifling effect on the forward progress of the community.

Then again it's possibly more of a reflection upon the state of mind of the more irrational respondents:confused:

For my part it was simply a matter of a genuine desire to help raise awareness among the forum community.
This was complimented by my personal pleasure, at the prospect of a highly regarded member of this forum community, potentially deriving a great deal of benefit.

Sorry guys, but I'm having a REALLY REALLY REALLY hard time believing this thread. My 2012 Pani S is up at Ducati Milwaukee as we speak getting service. Now mind you, it hasn't been in a Duc shop for (approx) 1.5 years now and they're telling me that when they plugged in the bike, it has/had the latest and greatest update...

Sooooooooooooooooo, MY QUESTION IS: Is this update THAT OLD and IF IT'S NOT, can someone tell me WHAT DO I NEED TO ASK THEM TO LOOK UP and HOW TO LOOK IT UP???

(once again, it was plugged into some computer over there and it was up to date per what he told me...)

Because Mike over in service over there is just scratching his head thinking I'm just a bit crazy....

Cause Brad knows better than the Ducati dealer"¦.duh. Get with the program Mitchlguzin.

Ironically, my bike goes in for service tomorrow. Ceramic coated Termi headers. Just loaded it up. TRUST me, I will make them put it on the computer to check for this delusional update. And even try to get in writing that no such update exists. :)

NOLA

I keep trying to not look at this thread, hoping that it will just go away, but it always pops up under the "new posts" list like a zombie, it seemingly can't be killed!

Once again: There's nothing else to "check for", assuming that a shop keeps their DDS updated regularly (which everyone should), any time a bike is plugged in and the scan sequence is initiated to check for any updates to apply on that particular bike, all available current updates to any of the systems on the bike are downloaded automatically and applied. That's it, that's all there is, there's nothing else that a tech at your Ducati shop can do other than plug it in, check for updates to apply and apply them. If they tell you they've done that, that's it, end of story, your bike has no updates available.

I now return you to your original programming, tonight's creature feature, The Night of the Living Thread! :roll eyes:

As I related in my first post my 2012 model was at a dealer in late feb at which time it was checked and up to date , Saturday just gone I took it to my local dealer as a result of reading this thread and watched him check it and indeed load an update. I will try and talk to the tech and see if I can get an accurate description for you and post it here shortly I hope.

Crikey....maybe its an Ozzie update only...

I just did my 600 miles service on 2013 panigale S, and there was an ecu update. Dealer could not tell if there was a fuel map or not. The bike does run smoother.

Jarelj is absolutely correct in his explanation of the process.
Except for one detail.
This update is for real;)

Either that, or you guys in the USA already have it for your market along with the Carbon canister.
Our bikes here in Oz, are the European versions.

Or worse still, you guys are excluded because of your emissions laws:(
Maybe that's a possibility?
Then again, some other people who are kind contributors on the forum and are located in the USA, have reported getting it recently and their bikes were up to date, as was mine.

Oh well, if you're like the little boy that fell out of the boat.
You're just not in it:eek:

Maybe DUCAUDI are monitoring the forums and are making a list of the true believers and correlating it with the VIN.
Only true believers are eligible for the update.
The rest can eat ....
How's that for a conspiracy theory?

You could try sending out some positive waves, Baby.
They tell me it does help a lot:)

It's a mother beautiful update, and it'll be there waiting for you, when you go into your dealer:D
Have a little faith Baby, have a little faith.

Interestingly you continually miss the point that it was my dealer that installed it right in front of me.

What part of that do you not understand?

And if your dealer installs an update, what then?

I'm very sorry, but I have no explanation what so ever:(

I will say this though.
If your bike hasn't actually been into the dealer in the last 1.5 years.
You should get at least 1 update, possibly 2 of the widely known updates/revised maps.

The first update was released in late 2012. (October/November)
The second was released in early 2013. (February/March)
Both had been discussed on this forum at the time they were released.
I think from memory, with regard to the second update. "Some owners" were notified by either Email from DUCATI and/or by post.
There was a TSB issued for one of the updates(I can't remember which one now)

Regarding this latest update.
It seems as though it's labelled as "Fuel Injector Parameters" on the DDS computer when it comes up.
And nobody knows about it, until the bike is actually connected to the system.
That's exactly how it happened with mine;)

Good Luck:)

Look away if it bothers you that much:(
And don't click on it to see the progress;)

If as you say there is nothing to see here, except your worst nightmare.
Then it shouldn't concern you any further:)

Be strong;)
Resist all temptation:D

My 1000th post:eek:

Thankyou:)

Have you got a bottle of 1959 Grange to help me celebrate?
They tell me there's plenty of them around down there.
Probably more than recently updated software on 1199's;)

Cheers Mate:)
