I don't normally post, I just lurk and learn but I found this thread interesting! I have had a steady state surge issue that was annoying, but I thought it to be part of the beast. After reading this thread a friend and I took our bikes to a "So Cal Dealer" last Saturday and asked about an update. The service writer had no knowledge of an update, but both of our bikes took a download. My 2013 S was up to date as of my prior service visit in December. The download took about 15 minutes and the bike is MUCH smoother; I would agree that the download is a transformation.

Which SoCal dealer did you take it too? I will take my bike there for the update since they should know one is available now.

It cuts down on your top speed... :)

Top speed is not the issue:eek:

It's everything in between where I have the problem:(
It's only since I've got older and greyer, that I've been able to learn a bit of self control:eek:

Me too.... Not..

Mike Lee7- I gave one hell of a hint in my first post... So Cal Ducati in Brea. I'm really not into posting or convincing anyone of anything. I just was just posting my experience. I'm out!!!

Its not a new map.The update only state "fuel injector perimeter...." or something like that.
My panigale is fitted with termignoni full system with 41T rear sprocket and the change is significant once the update done.

Is there any way to see which version of firmware/software that is loaded on the bike without being at the dealer and hooking it up to their terminal?
Most electronics that I have played with over years usually have some sort of diagnostic menu etc (though not always documented in manuals) that show more detailed software/hardware information, therefore I was just wondering if there is something similar on the Panigale?

I said I would post an update after picking up the bike on Sat, but I'm not the best test since I also had termis installed so switched to that upmap. The bike is definitely loads smoother at low speed than it was before and the pickup is ridiculous, but that could be just my perception because I was tooling around on a 75 HP dual sport for the 3 weeks it was in the shop.

The Termi's/up-map is certainly a nice improvement.
I had them fitted at the first service back in July/august 2012.

This latest thing is something else again.
Fuel Injector Parameters rings a bell as to what it was labelled, that also co-relates with what I was told originally last week:(

What ever happened to my bike last week, literally transformed the thing into something else:)
If it's not what I believe it to be, then I can't believe that other people have had it installed and didn't get pretty excited about it at the time.
It's that good:)

Perhaps Mickeyboy can hopefully shed more light on the subject when he gets his back from service.

Well the service manager just called to say the bike is ready - I asked if there were any updates when they plugged the bike in and he didn't seem to know. To be fair he is off on annual leave from tomorrow so he has probably already "checked out" - I'll hopefully be able to speak to one of the mechanics when I pick the bike up tomorrow.

Be aware that when you take your bike into the dealer for the 7500 miles service (or any service for that matter), the TuneBoy program will be wiped from the ECU. If you removed your O2 sensors as required with the TuneBoy software, the check engine indicators will light up on the dash, and cannot be cleared until you reload the TuneBoy program. The "Racing Evo" full-Termi upmap remained, but it runs like total butt in comparison to the TuneBoy program. Bucking and just unhappy fueling may be related to the ECU not seeing the O2 sensor input, but either way, I can't wait until I can load my TuneBoy back into the ECU. Sure miss that cruise control as well!!

The rear cylinder head on my S started leaking oil badly on my trip this afternoon so I stopped by the socal ducati dealer and dropped off my bike (also picked up a brand new Monster 1200 S but that's another story) and I asked the service manager if there is a new update...

The answer is: Yes.

Its a 'fueling' update but he mentioned that 'only if the bike requires it'. Not sure what that means but they will be connecting my bike to the computer and we'll see if it takes an update. My bike has the latest software as of Nov 2013. I'll post updates when I get my bike back.

Hi all , I am new to Ducati and new to this forum. I have been following this thread with interest. I picked up my Panigale on 22 Feb 14, the original owner took it to his local dealer on 20 Feb 14 at which time it was scanned for updates and had the wiring harness update fitted. I rang the tech at that dealer at the time and confirmed all was up to date and bike was good to go. After following this thread I contacted him again on 11 April 14 and he re confirmed that when he last saw the bike it was up to date. On 12 April 14 I took the bike to my local dealer to have it scanned and watched him do it. There was a fuel map update which took about 10 or so minutes to install . Let me say that prior to this update I had no real issue with the way the bike ran but after the difference is quite noticeable mostly in the low rpm range.

Had mine in yesterday for an oil/filter change, TSB on airbox and check to see if the update was needed.

Mine is a '14 1199R that I purchased on 28 Feb. Mine did not take an update.

They mentioned that some Panigale's have taken an injector/fuel update.

Maybe it is only the '12-'13 that need the updated map??

Will finally get my bike back tomorrow. I wasn't holding out for much but now I'm quite excited ;)

Do you know the production date on your bike? Mine is October 2013. I'm wondering if I'm in the same boat as you. Thanks!

Pilot- I WATCHED my bike and a friends bike take the download, while talking with the tech doing it. My bike has an early 13 build date and the other bike a late 12 build date. Prior to this download my bike was in December at which time I had a 41 tooth rear done. So I was up to date as of December prior to the download.
