My seat finally arrived and I tried fitting it to my 22 Panigale V4. Unfortunately, fitment is a bit off. When pushed all the way forward the rear holes don’t line up. And when I mean pushed forward I mean with a fair amount of force. The base is definitely pressed up against the tank. The rear holes are miles off and the wrong size (1 mm too small).

I’m also surprised with the height. It’s 1-2 cm less in height than the stock seat. I was hoping it would be at the stock seat height. You couldn’t appreciate the height of the seat with the pictures they send which is unfortunate.

I’ll be contacting them and seeing how to proceed. If you have a 22 V4, I’d hold off on ordering one of these seats until the fitment is rectified.

There’s a bit of a trick to it, you need to not only push the seat forward, but also downward right in the center, then the seat base flexes into place and the holes line right up. I’ve had 3 of their seats and all three are like that, it’s not so much about pushing the seat forward into the tank, as it is about pushing the seat straight down toward the ground so the seat base bows downward into place. That makes the screws line up. I suspect that’s on purpose so you have a nice solid press fit that’s more planted and stable feeling.

Either sit on the seat backwards or have someone else sit on the bike while you put the screws in if you feel it’s too awkward to push down (not forward) on the seat while you align the screws.

You also have to be careful about those clips, that’s a real bit of poor design by…. Ducati, keeping those clips from moving while pressing the seat into place and aligning the screws lol

Also you are missing the little metal grommets in your seat, those need to be transferred over from your current seat or the screws will just pop through the seat and potentially damage it.

The seat does look thin though, did you specify a specific height over stock that you wanted it raised?

Thanks for the beta. I could give that a shot. I did try that method pressing at the center of the seat that you were talking about but only pressed lightly.

Maybe the 22 has a different setup. My bike doesn’t have any metal grommets. It looks like the screws have a flange on them already. Speaking of they don’t fit through the holes of the new seat. They’re about 1 mm too big for the hole.

I didn’t specify a specific height. I was under the impression that it would be at stock height. There’s no mention of height on the description on their site for this type of seat.4670C807-BC70-42E7-910D-ABB826FC0B98.jpeg

Did you order the ‘22+ seat and which model? They do have various models for specific model years.

Good one?

My OEM SP seat didn’t come with any grommets either. Just screws similar to yours straight in the seat. Maybe the metal grommets was an earlier design?

Probably, the screws are shaped like the grommets and are a better solution.

Took another look at it this morning and it’s still off despite heavily pressing down (full body weight) on the seat. The shifter-side hole lines up but the brake-side hole is off by about 3 mm. The center of the hole on the subframe is where the tip of the pick is located.

The RaceSeat is also 18 mm lower than stock which wasn’t exactly what I wanted. This lower seat height also lowers my knees so they’re farther away from the knee contours. I wanted stock seat height with flat horizontal profile and rounded at the thighs.

I was hoping it was going to more like this.

Send it back and order a custom spec one, they can make it anyway you like.

Yup. Sent them an email on how to rectify it. I thought I did order a custom one but I guess we weren’t on the same page. And when they send photos they really should have something that you can reference like a stock seat to compare it too especially when it comes to seat height and profile.

The bolt holes not lining up is a big concern though. Whoever drilled those holes or made the template might’ve had a bit too much vino at the time.

Your raceseat looks to be lower than stock at the front but higher everywhere else.

Interesting that Ducati supplies a curved seat on the production bike, while supplying flat seats on their race bikes.

Most people seem to prefer the flatter seat profile, and the Ducati wsbk’s have flat plank-like seats.

Yeah. Not what I was expecting.

This is what I wanted (orange) vs what was made (green). Basically, I wanted to take the curve out of the front-to-back profile of the stock seat which would raise the seating position. I was hoping to be 1-2 cm higher so that my knees would lock into the tank better. When the seat is lower you have to contort yourself around the back of the tank more which twists your torso. I also wanted a flatter side-to-side profile that tapers into rounded where your thighs make contact.7FE0AF8F-C4FC-4A64-8BF4-D14461FFB1B7.jpeg

The flat seat, especially with squared sides makes it harder and less comfortable to put your feet on the ground…not good for posing on your bike outside of Starbucks.
