Lets talk ebc..

True, to each their own and I'm sure your mechanic knows your riding style. I guess I'm just surprised this hasn't come up before if the slipper and/or clutch isn't that great and I guess that's a chunk o cash that others might spend elsewhere before making that change or upgrade.

For sure; the ask for a STM or dry conversion is crazy; I was hoping for a "clutch mod" of some sort, oh well.. I'll prob end up with wheels/brakes/forks b4 any drivetrain expenditures...

I've ridden it in 3. Kinda why I was asking if anyone had made any clutch changes; I'm pretty sure its not 100% what I want..

Maybe do more than 40 miles settle into the bike let the new plates and oil loosen up everything is new .
Just a suggestion Larry .
What brakes you getting ?I'm surprised you don't like these ones they are great . Just my opinion

Absolutly, it doesnt freewheel enough for my taste. Still feels like too much engine breaking when you stab down two or three..

Gotcha. Now without reading my manual again is there anyway to turn the ebc completely off on our bikes? And what bike are you coming from?

I will, i'll ride it a bunch before making any radical decisions..
Ill be running some double H sintered pads for starters, seems like PO glazed the OEMs and Ill be looking at a new master for better lever feel. Rotors I dont think will be nessessary.. The bike isnt new tho, its got 2100 miles on it.. Course judging from the overall wear it was ridden gingerly, so in reality some break in left to be done...

Maybe just stick with two . Just saying not trying to tell you anything .

Thats an option...

Yes you can turn it off...
Most reciently a 916sps..

Truthfully no because Intuition tells me thats the opposite direction I want to go..

May I suggest trying ebc off them. That way you get 100% feel for the slipper on the 1199. You may or may not like it but at least you would know either way. Sometimes intuition is a hinderance more than a useful tool.

Yes you may; I'll for sure give it a shot..

Off = Max engine braking as its letting the engine operate in its normal state whereas turning it on to 1,2,or 3 intervenes and lessens the engine braking. So the manual says...

From the manual...

Why is there this epic level of confusion with EBC? Turning off engine braking control, removes its effect.

To minimize the engine braking effect, set engine braking control to its maximum...3

Or, just remove the spark plugs. But, alas the bike will likely only roll downhill. Slowly.

krisskross our bikes have a slipper clutch already installed. Or do you mean a better one?

forgot about that...I have no idea how the 12 reacts and the engine braking for it...but I know my 899 has ridiculous engine braking (even on L3), and i'm still getting used to it...so I can feel his pain if he's looking for a way to reduce it

Coming from a 916 to a much bigger twin would probably be make a difference in engine braking due to the big ol pistons from the Pani. In the end it sounds like it's the nature of the beast.

Maybe the only other option would be to sell it and buy something else other than a twin that fits that riding style...or get used to it in time and adjust your riding style.

I say try to turn the EBC off. I ride with it off and really like the way it feels. I have tried all the different settings and prefer it off. I have used it on the same corners back to back and prefer it off.

I use trail braking into the corner as I transition from Deceleration to Maintainance Throttle and then Drive out of the corner. EBC in any setting other then off just really slows me down too much.
