more and more vibes seem to confirm a RR version being on the books for 2014..

indicated spec list would seem to include

mag or Ti frame ( mag probably )
upgraded suspension a la RR16
some more goodies
special colorscheme

price estimate around 50K euro's
invitation buyers only
limited series of 500 -

there is confirmation that this bike is being tested today...

but then there is the reality of WSBK rules changing that seems to push Corse to coming up with a different homologation bike that will surely take any part and bit of kit under review. because the rules do not do anything to close the gap between 4IL and 2L performance, Ducati will have to come up with the answers themselves... this would mean they have to sell 2K bikes over 2 years....

truth somewhere in the middle?

CF Fairings? Maybe the one we saw a while back. 50k Euros would be insane though, but I guess thats Desmosedici territory.

It's the price to pay for the bragging rights of "I have one bike out of 500 worldwide".

IMO, the R is a a good bang for the buck... the RR for 50K? Not for me.

I already have the panigale RR kope came to nyc and test rode the bike he promised not to tell anyone but I guess I learned my lesson.... Any how I will post pictures in a couple min utes

depends on the suspension/brake they put on ... new, a sbk head (forks and schock, masters, calipers ) will put you back 24K

Sounds interesting but wouldn't it be slightly heavier (adding a frame after all) and only marginally faster than the Pani R @ 2-3x the cost? My bike is faster/sexier/lighter/better-handling than I could ever imagine, so special variants don't appeal to me. Although, I might make a habit of collecting one of each future generation R models for fun. When the Pani is replaced in 2017-2020, what badass machine will that be? Would be fun to have a series of those R-spec bikes in my stable over the course of the next 20yrs even if it only means 2-4 more bikes.

What do you mean by frame Kope. Do you mean the subframes for steering head and seat ?

I see a replacement much earlier than that.
Does anyone know why the 1198 only lasted 3 model years? Thats insane. In my opinion, at 1198 release time they were already building/testing the 1199.
Going off the 1198 logic, I could see a replacement as soon as 2015/2016.
Maybe I'm wrong?

Really thought the 1198 wasn't a resign, it was just the 1098 with a bigger motor and some other small differences. So that would extend the run if that model to what 5-6 years? I can't see the 1199 being phased out that fast

I have talked to a few disappointed RR Desmo owners. It is really a silly bike for street use and Im sure any version of an 1199RR will be the same. Uber rare of course and bragging rights, but in the end a machine designed purely for the track and just a headache to maintain. And in a few years, the current line offering will have more power and lighter weight!!! Yikes.

They must have very high standards . For sure as a street bike they are not the best but if you went into the purchase thinking it would be your just a knob.
