oh, and in terms of weighing less, and making more power. Unless this is your bike on the grid in a racing series, I don't really seeing it matter very much - the 1299, with basic modifications and deleting superfluous parts, is already extremely lightweight.

Well actually, it does matter, wherever bikers gather and you're standing around in your leathers quoting numbers while sipping your latte....

LOL!! exactly

I agree too. The times I have had my 1199 at the track is the most fun you can have on a bike. Especially a track day with a clear track in front of you. A couple of times I have had the red mist up and nearly lost the front end trying to catch some guy on another bike in front of me.

As BigBoost says have fun just don't risk crashing your pride and joy because it is not a MotoGP title, its just you against yourself and your own lap times.

Forget GP. It's not even a CMA or WERA title!! It's just fun and should be for practice so you can improve your track skills.

I just talked to someone at my dealer today that's seen the bike that it's going for 80K. Suppose to be a claimed 215 bhp.

$80K ok more than the Desmosedici....and to me the #1 selling point for this bike is the "impossible to get" Akra WSBK like exhaust that is said to be on it. Like on Chaz Davies bike. No underslung exhaust. Forget the CF parts. That can be bought easily. I talked to Akrapovic 3 months ago and asked them about that exhaust being sold to the public. They said no it was only made for the WSBK team. And cost them about $15K to make.

It's not impossible to get. A forum member just received his RS16 and had the option of getting that exhaust and chose to get the single exhaust outlet, the version before the double outlet.

Yeah, that number is way off. Complete set of CF fairings for the SL (I think including tank, when I priced this last) is ~$19k

EDIT: here it is
P7YtyMO.png

That's $17,891.16 before tax

...what you got there at $19k would just cover a set of wheels off the desmosedici.....(tires not included) ;)

Yep. I have bodies from CDT, Ilmberger, Advanced Composites and Ducati in the shop. In many ways these aftermarket CF body components exceed the DP parts in terms of matrix composition, finish, strength, options and function for 1/3 the cost. Ducati is not even remotely realistic in its pricing on parts. I would always buy used if I had to get something from the factory as resale values on parts is low. Case in point is a replacement motor for the 1299. Over 17k from Ducati. I have purchased more than a few very low mile motors for under $4500.00. Like i said, you can make a "better" Sl for less money. The new SL is rumored to be 80-85K. Thats just silly. You could just crush that build for so much less and thankfully, your going to see a few aftermarket builders do just that.

when and what price will they be, also do you get a two year warranty.

I believe the pricing is tiered. No details yet and your right, if you need a warranty, buy the overpriced stuff. If Ducati assembles it, your more than likely going to need that warranty for sure. Im not sure how warranty stuff works with after market builders.

the other problem is the SL , D16 etc tend to hold their value reasonably well, unlike a custom one off build as you never get anywhere close to what you put into it.

OHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhh "there you go again"......

weren't you going to detail this last week ?

turning an 1199 base into an SL ? "this i gotta see"....

I admire you guys that can put $30+ worth of sportbike on and track with the possibility of wadding it up into a little ball. I'll be hitting the track soon but, not with my pride and joy. It'll be with something that I care a lot less about and have a lot less invested in lol.

I agree it is a risk. It is only luck I did not crash 3 times. Twice in one day I felt the front end go but did not crash. It was not rider skill that kept me on, it was just dumb luck.

I put new tyres on after that. I also know one time I had too much front brake on as I pitched into a sharp turn.

Still fun though

Price in the UK just revised from £66K to £72K. Ouch!! Though weight is said to be very very close to 150kg. Any other info is being kept very close to the dealers' chests.

Yeah I'm still waiting for all the specs on it. I love seeing all these new ideas and revelations but I'm still trying to wrap my head around 80 ....... K.
