Im not impressed with how this rolled out either because the system itself looked really nice. Now im not defending the redline guys but you got the heavy discount to be sort of a guinea pig right? If thats the case then youve gotta expect some fitment issues no?
Yep. Absolutely I expected some potential fitment issues. What I didn't expect was to receive random bolts and exhaust springs three weeks after receiving my order, or a jacked up mounting scheme for the cans, or to be sitting waiting for them to finish the design that was supposed to be done in November. Meanwhile, I get more info about this system on this forum than the people I bought it from.
Go through face book to Phil Smith, or Storm Performance Fabrications. You wont be disappointed, the fit is 100% perfect, the headers are inconel which is a step up from titanium and wont crack, Ive had two other bikes with titanium systems and both have cracked. I ran it without rapid bike for 2 days because I had loom issues, the bike ran perfectly no flat spots , but was risking it being lean with the std ECU. But this supports the design flow of the system. I havent run it on the dyno so cant put numbers up. I would be able to compare it to other bikes i have had on the same dyno.
FWIW, inconel is stronger (especially when hot) but is much higher density so typically the wall thicknesses are dropped down to be very thin to make the weight make sense. Inconel systems can crack too (just ask Austin Racing). At the end of the day, exhaust system failure comes down to engineering design and craftsmanship.
That Storm system is looking better and better as I keep walking by my torn down bike in my basement. Thanks for posting the pics.
