But....it just doesn't drive like my Range Rover...

Let me list some issues...

1) It's really hot to drive, it's a race car so no air con anymore and it runs hot

2) The ride is rough, nothing like my Range

3) The gearing makes it really hard to drive on the street at low speeds

4) The race seats are hard, making long trips difficult

5) I'm always working on a new issue or finding it needs much more preventative mechanical attention compared to the Range.

6) It vibrates!

And the list goes on....

Does this sound familiar?

No I don't a Ferrari at current...but I do own a 1199

It just seems so many people whinge about this bike just not cutting it on the street for some of the above listed issues....what so many seem to miss is that you BOUGHT a RACE BIKE...you didn't buy a Harley, or a multi...you bought a RACE BIKE!

You don't buy a race car and expect it to be street drivable, comfortable, cool, quiet and issue free do you?

You didn't buy this bike without research, you didn't buy a Ducati Superbike unknowingly. So suck it up, stop complaining and ride the bike you bought.

Just a small rant, I'm over people spending more time complaining about this bike then riding it...It's never going to ride like a Gold Wing!

I, as well as 90% of owners, love their 1199 because we know what to expect..but there just seems a few that just don't get it, buy a Gold Wing please!

:)

Typically these goldwingers will put around 1000mls on it the first year, mostly also more bizzy with adding *bling* on the bike instead of riding it. Coming to the conclusion they better sell it the next year. I have seen few for sale lately.

You think a Harley is any different??? I can assure you they are not except they are not a race bike.

Exactly JustDucky...they're not a race bike...people rattle on like they should expect comfort in the form of a Harley Ultra Glide or any other touring bike...maybe I should of stipulated a particular model sorry.

Seriously, what are these people talking about. panigale is just fine on the street. I commute everyday in traffic on it and I'm as happy as I am when at the track. Makes morning commute to work worth waking up for.

so you're the type of people that take a hooker to the opera, right?

:D

Clearly the goal should be to have a bike for every situation. Posing Paul Smart or 1199. Street riding in town Monster, Touring Multi, Power Cruising Diavel. Track days 899 or 1199. Canyons Hypermotard! Still cheaper than a new Ferrari!

All sportbikes have stiff rides and stink in traffic. Deosn't really matter to me that my Duc is 5% worse at that if it's a hair better in the twistys like it is.

I don't have the heat problems (it's way better than classic Duc Superbikes), but man this thing bucks when I'm stuck in 25mph traffic. I sit up and use my finger tips on the throttle sometimes.

It is funny watching people that should have bought a GSXR750 complain about thier Apes and Ducs. I still think the current olde GSXR750 is one of the best bikes ever made. Even if it is ancient. Fix the rearsets and seat and it's boringly perfect.

But I wanted a racebike. With racebike sounds and feel. And to be honest, this Duc is a whole loot easier to live with than previous models. I think they hit a home run. But they F'd up the seat and pegs. (Oddly most bike magazines loved the crap seat. It's "easy" to reach the ground if you're 9 years old. Lamo mags as usual, I'll bet Ducati gave us that crap seat just to please the idiot magazines for good reviews)

Mine did the same bucking thing at low speeds. What fixed it for me was termi slips and upmap and switching to wet mode when I get stuck in those conditions. If you don't have the termi upmap maybe just try wet mode and see how that works for you. I find that makes the biggest difference for me since it makes the throttle less sensitive.

My throttle is super sensitive as I have the 42 rear sprocket conversion, MWR HE filter, pro stockmapping, powerkoted full Termis and the pcv with autotune and I ride on 195 hi in sports mode. The pcv with autotune has basically taken the power dip in mid range out though so she is a very feisty, but joyful ride in traffic.:D

Yeah, wet mode helped alot. But it's still like riding my DRZ at 10mph in a campground. Have to pull the clutch in and coast sometimes like an olde school 2 stroke.

lol..yeah. I ride it in traffic as infrequently as I can.

1,000 miles in April and there was snow on the ground when the month began. My MTS1200S is feeling neglected.

what a crock . first you are comparing apples to oranges. as 2 of my friends have ferraris they didnt have to upgrade the seating it was just fine.
they didnt have to upgrade the gearing that was just fine.
they could see and check their oil with no problems (2012 issue).
when they drove and it got hot the signals and horn still worked.
condensation didnt accumulate in their dashboard when the ferrari got hot the body didnt melt either.
and could you believe at high speeds bolts didnt go flying off.

what my ferrari owner friends have bought and what they expected was the ultimate sports car and thats what they got.

what my ducati friends expected was the ultimate sports bike and we got 4 th place. best looking yes best around not by a long shot

so keep making excuses for the brand you prefer thats fine but as usual you dont get what you pay for with ducati.

all that being said i dont mind paying a premium if its worth it but an S is 10k more than an s1000rr and 5k more than the ape aspc rsv4 and both those bikes are better lets not bring the zx10r into either.

its so annoying that people complain about this bikes comfort level...I didn't buy this bike for comfort and if you did, your a retard. I feel its pretty much as simple as that...I love every minute of my Panigale experiences.

but Mark, he was using a race/track spec Ferrari as an example not a "standard" Ferrari off the showroom floor. I think his point that if you buy a nascar, don't expect to have the luxuries of a range rover. if you buy an f250 on 40's, don't expect the ride of a Cadillac. just like someone who bought the 1199 owner shouldn't expect the comfort of a Goldwing.

I haven't had a single issue you have described with my Pani, only 2 loose bolts, and I have had a few friends with Ferrari's as well...they are very temperamental cars requiring a lot of preventative care. Its pretty safe to say if speed around the track is what you want, you don't get what you pay for with Ferrari either. plenty of cars can do what the 458 can do around the track with much much less invested...but it still wouldn't be a Ferrari...and that's the joy. just like why I got my Ducati. I could have gotten the HP4 but I would rather pay more to be a little more uncomfortable I suppose lol...

I think it is very comfortable.
I do agree that it was released (in 2012) before it was ready for market.
