Have you tried the 17?

Good question.

I had asked the suspension guys that Abhi on the Chasing Tenths channel uses. They’ve come back saying 19x18 for a track bike. 🫣 It’s interesting how often I am getting this same recommendation.

The recommendation was that 17x20 or 19x16 can be used and they both have about the same overall ratio, will make braking feel lighter but they can feel a little vague and most people prefer a more solid feel.

He also didn’t think the GP4-MS were much of an upgrade over the Stylema. I guess that’s maybe not much of a surprise.

stick with std, ride it, run it in, even on track you can be gentle, learn the bike, improve your riding, save the money, then start making changes based on what YOU feel rather than a you tuber or who ever.

Don’t forget that I’ve tried 16x20 with Stylema, so I have a very good idea what the brakes will feel like. I’ll confirm that on the road very shortly when I finally get to run the bike in but there’s no reason why the V4R setup should feel any different to the SP2 setup.

I mentioned before that I want slightly wider bars based on last year’s experience. The bars are the same on both bikes and I believe this change will be useful.

These are not particularly expensive or radical changes and they are based on what I’ve found for myself.

As much as I like the shiny GP4-MS and could treat myself if I want to, I get the impression that there would be zero benefit to doing so, other than looking prettier. I’m inclined to stick with the Stylema that are on the bike.

He’s just trolling (hard to believe, I know).

At least you make comments based on actual experience.

I have experience in correcting the stock setup. All it took was some good brake fluid and proper bleeding technique. Easy as. Cost me $50 and 15 minutes of my time.

Sorry to hear that your lever is flaccid...

That long? I hope you are better at bleeding brakes than you are at putting stickers on your bike. 🫣

Do you even know how to bleed brakes? Have you ever bled your brakes on your V4? I'd bet not.

Which V4?

Yes, I do know how to bleed brakes. I was doing it over 35 years ago on bikes and cars and I’ve done it with various interesting cars in the intervening years before coming back to bikes. Basic maintenance isn’t really that difficult from what I’ve seen so far. As an example, the oil change on the V4 is far simpler than on a 911. Bleeding brakes on a 911 is also far more complex.

Clearly you find stickers more challenging.

You do talk some utter nonsense. Are you finished yet or do you have more trolling to do before bedtime?

Seen or done? Do you have practical experience bleeding a V4 brake? It’s an easy question. What spanners are needed? What kind of tubing do you need? What’s the volume of the system? If you did actually do this, you wouldn’t be aimlessly going down a rabbit hole of a new brake setup before you’ve even ridden the bike.

If you need help with stickers, talk to your butt buddy andy. He has plenty of practical experience with putting stickers on his fugazi bike.
