V4 fuelling options

From the sounds of it, your woes with the Woolich tunes seems a bit of a bodge. You got warning lights flashing all over the place and service resets seem like a bear

He has one light, which Woolich has resolved, and then a full custom map, specific to his bike. Can't seem to see where there's a 'bodge'?

I think the stumbling block was that the 22 bike has changed again and we are playing catch up… nearly there
A bespoke dyno tune is miles better than a guesstimate …..

Eh. I'd think the challenge is finding a local tuner who is competent and capable with Woolich's software. Which may or may not exist where you live.

With any tune, once you get past the emission/noise compliance neutering, its small gains past that. I don't disagree that custom is a better option, but to say its miles ahead is overstated.

Do you think Termignoni is taking things to the bleeding edge of reliability? I doubt one V4 engine is hugely different from another. I’m sure there are very slight variances but nothing that’s going to make a big difference or make a tune that’s been applied to many different bikes unsafe.

If someone doesn’t have access to a dyno are they forever married to the stock tuning? Of course not, it’s just another circumstance where a canned tune makes sense.

When fixing one thing causes a downstream problem somewhere else, I’d call that a bodge. Ultimately, it sounds like teething problems on Woolich’s end. For $800 + dyno time, that sucks to have not work right from the get go.

IMHO (and I’m obviously a douche for having an opinion) the difference between Andy’s custom tune and the canned UpMap are going to be marginal like anything that you try optimizing. But the only way is to find out. That UpMap should be included w the Termi system. Unless you’re professionally racing, ROI is negligible if not taking a loss.

Maybe it would be helpful for members who don’t run, don’t own or have never worked on/with to refrain from participating in the thread topic. Just an idea

I thought snak has a 22 V4...?

The Woolich software has some pretty neat features which allow you a lot of access to the ECU to change things you otherwise couldn't. We're getting into the weeds to argue the necessity of such things, but there is value there if you're interested in changing when the fans turn on, throttle & torque mapping etc.

Endo once again is calling the kettle black trying to stir .... up... Needs to stay in his lane

I have a V4 dry clutch motor sitting in the shop and I I have the STM dry clutch on the 1299I and I have had the Woolich platform for 4 years, how about you?

Endo right now talking about his motor and tuning software:

Hey rac, do you own an STM dry clutch and the woolich software package? I do, let’s see yours

How do you even ride this garage queen with so much .... on it? Must slip right off that seat. And that rear Rosso IV sports-touring tire looks fresh as a daisy. I find it perplexing that a built from the ground up machine just sits idle and gets .......'d on

Yep folks this is what we're up against here 5' figure nerd with glasses that has never ridden a bike and is no help to anyone here on the board.

Getting back on track, I chose woolich for a number of reasons not all of them related to tuning. The auto tune is interesting as it allows for a good base tune based on actual riding conditions which for most, I would think more beneficial to an all out effort dyno tune. You can customize the AF,ign and throttle mapping to your liking in different modes. I just started playing with EGT as a tool as well. In small aircraft, we use EGT almost exclusively to optimize AF and manually adjust it at altitude. Decent old school tool.

The other reason was in putting together the electrical system I wanted to eliminate all of the associated wiring and connectors associated with all of the block off plugs. Woolich through software manipulation allows me the ability to delete everything at the ECU allowing me to get rid of all of the plugs and associated wiring. I take the O2s off and remove all the woolich components when I’m not using them. Pretty good setup

I also like that I can view the maps of other vendors in the software. Let’s me see what they are doing or not doing.
