im stoked ducati is coming out with this, that way when i sell my R in the future it looks like a bargain :)

Magnesium frame, how could it be Titanium as its a cast section?
No mag swing arm but mag wheels
Full Ti exhaust
Carbon rear subframe

Magnesium is not corrosion resistant so its something to look out for. Titanium has low thermal conductivity so heat would dissipate more from the exhaust instead of being absorbed..

While these may be more expensive and add to the cost, from an application standpoint I am not sure if these will hold up in the long run

Only has to hold up for 2 years.:D

Magnesium is not corrosion resistant ...

quick question:
as long as the paint, or whatever surface treatment is intact, does magnesium still corrode? i always thought that as long as the paint wasn't damaged, thereby exposing the magnesium to the elements, the metal would hold up just as well as aluminum, but someone was telling me that it corrodes no matter what.

If you want it to really last you can anodize it and then paint over it, it will not corrode. We've done a few sets of custom magnesium triple clamps on race bikes in the past and that's what we did with them.

so it WILL corrode with just paint?

Aluminium is a cheaper metal and it has higher thermal conductivity and better corrosion resistance. Magnesium is expensive and is generally made into an alloy with zinc or aluminium or other metals to inherit properties where it is lacking based on application usage.

I would not want to invest time and money into maintaining something that is expected to last long just by normal regular cleaning.

In my opinion the cons outweigh the pros here as far as materials used go but if people have the cash to blow.. its theirs for the taking

I'm guessing this is what will be done at the factory. Anodizing is a very simple solution here.

80k US ??

I mean even on my best year... i'm not dropping that.. that R is still enough to have DB rights... the S for that matter... Let's be real most of the street sportbike riders are in awe of anything Ducati.. Its when we get around other ducatisti when we have our pissing contest..

So, If I happen to see one on the street I'm going to admire 1st. 2nd, chk for chicken strips 3rd... Do you even race Bro ??? (Ultimate DB line)

Tom Crusie will probably buy one Jay Leno Usher...Hugh Jackman... some dudes from Dubai...A few of my buddies from college on WS who make a mil a qtr (fuckers!!!)

After that some race teams let's see... that's about 100 sold ?

:rant over:

my guess is, it's not going to cost anywhere near $80k--prolly closer to $50k.

The Desmosedici 16RR cost $72500 so don't expect the 1199RR to be lesser than that and it has better components and more sophisticated electronics..

If it is indeed $50k I may trade in my R for that.. anything above $50k and I am passing it up

+1:mad: Hahaaa! Lol:D

Yup.. I was talking with my dealer today and they were saying that this new RR bike will drop in value really fast.. It may be a limited edition bike and I doubt it is meant for the street.. unless u r a hardcore track rider and have a lot of dough then its worth a look..

I just got my R today and the ride back home from the dealership was an absolute blast.. I just stalled on a traffic light once cos I didn't give it enough gas while letting the clutch out.. rode it on WET mode cos it was raining earlier in the day and the roads were kinda damp.
