Credit can be used responsibly...I paid cash for my Panigale, but I have financed new bikes and vehicles in the past. I'd do it all over again, because I wouldn't have had years of enjoyment with said vehicles had I not.

Do you have a mortgage? You could swing your argument in the same fashion. Typical 25 year mortgage, half of that goes to interest.

As it happens I do not have a mortgage and have not had one since my first property 30 years ago.

The point also being that until recently property has been an appreciating asset and still could be if one stays put for a while. Read my original post; I was about using debt for depreciating assets.

Anyway not only are we off topic by some margin, this discussion is not going anywhere. You run your life as you see fit and I will do likewise.

BTW, if some one wants Termis, good for them.

I went for the S because I can and the return was not important to me.

If you haven't had a mortgage since your first home 30 years ago, you must be loaded. :D

I understand what you're saying about depreciating assets, but you also have to be realistic, not everyone has the cash on hand to buy a minivan to cart the kids to school in. It's really related to your net worth.

I really believe it depends on your situation. Both financial and with regards to your plans for the bike. I think if you are going to mainly use your bike for the track or competitive racing then the base is the way to go. You may keep the suspension but upgrade the internals or replace altogether, new wheels, etc... It would just cost more in the end if you got an S. I think there are better wheels than the Marchesini's. Also, the S suspension is difficult to set up precisely for both street use and track use. It's not that the Ohlins aren't any good, I think they're very good for a 150lb Italian, but the functional range of the DES is fairly narrow. If your mainly using your bike for street I think the S is a good bargain for what you get. Opinions are free and this is my donation!

Thank you very much for this.

No, I don't plan to track it on a regular basis. Maybe once a year with my Son. So, considering the cost of the LED headlight and the lighter wheels... And, since it will not see a track regularly, I will probably get an S.

+1 well said bronch.

Keep your bike. S is sexier but concidering the hit you would take on trade in makes it foolish in my opinion

We cleaned toilets with that when I was in England...:D

The Stella in the USA is a lot weaker than the Stella in the UK. I believe in the UK the Brits refer to Stella as "Wife beater" due to it's strength and then there is the top of the line Stella Black.

Wow! If that was full, I'd be up for a group ride to your house for happy hour :D I have a circa 1950s Pepsi machine full of 'em, only .10 to drink at my bar!
