Would you choose a V4R or SP2 for trackday use?

Don't worry the cost of replacement leathers will keep you thin. I have a race suit from the 90's (custom $1800 in the 90's) that still fits. Weird it got looser thru the chest and shoulders and tighter in the middle in spite of the fact I weight the same. Thank god it's got a really good main zipper.

If only there was a racing suit that could make me slim and young - I would order two :)

I do need custom leathers though, my chest/back are too wide for my t-rex arms, so my sleeves end up way too long.

It's worth spending the money IMHO. Pricey but so much nicer. Nothing off the rack would ever fit me. The expense of replacement will keep you thin as far as young...

Dainese Short & Tall kinda fits me, but its unperforated, so its a choice between boiling or wearing very large gloves, so they can get over the sleeves. I have a trip planned to PSI this winter to deal with this.

Mine were from PSI. 👍

4SR are supposed to be very good as well.

Bike ordered and I should have it available for collection shortly.

I think Ducati are very keen to shift the V4R and they have them at the factory built and ready to ship for anyone who wants one. Although I have seen high numbers on the top yoke on various pictures of delivered bikes (I’m sure I saw one that was over 1,100) they still have ones at the factory waiting for buyers that are in the 600s. It makes me think they haven’t actually registered the required 1,000 bikes yet and I believe it has to be done before the end of this year under the homologation rules. Dealers are being told that V4R must be registered as sold - that registration cannot be delayed (many dealers would delay for a few months over winter as there’s really no need to have the warranty start when the bike is sitting in a garage waiting to be ridden when the good weather returns).

Just a theory and based on nothing more than immediate availability and very strong deals to be had, along with information from a couple of sources about dealers being instructed to immediately register them as sold. It seems like a good time to buy one if you’re considering it.

I think there is some announcement coming in early December, so I’ve probably bought one just before the upgrade with a seamless gearbox comes out… 🤣

Congratulations! When will you get the bike?

If you like Dainese, an option I just learned of (when attending a track day at Portimão) is trackside Dainese custom works - they offered a 25% discount on custom suits if you get fitted and order from the trackside vendor.

I meant to talk with him both times I did RSE and forgot to do so. 25% is good and it looks like Dianese airbag suits now offer more than one activation before having to be sent back to be recharged.

Correct - the version of the Mugello the rep showed us (he called it “the GP suit”), has a user replaceable cartridge, and only needs to be sent back after the 3rd deployment.

I went for a custom suit that uses the Alpinestars Tech Air Race primarily because I didn’t like the idea of sending the entire suit back after one deployment. It’s a good move by Dainese and if the user can replace the cartridge, which I was not aware of, then that puts them one up.

I believe the design can be more custom when ordering through the rep at the track day than the usual system allows?

Correct - the rep told us that ordering through the trackside vendor allows additional customization (essentially unrestricted) not available through the retail process.

I did mention that I’d seen high numbers out in the wild and another member has received a higher number than that, yet I asked the dealer to check what number the bike would be when they asked the factory to send one and it was in the low 600s. Odd, right? And apparently they have bikes sitting ready to go and available.

i just saw someone upload it and i thhought to post it. thats all :D

If that's the case, I wecome it. They're trying to maximize on the situation in all avenues. (Mine's12xx as'24 in US.) For years all sportbike manufacturers have had analysis paralysis because their accountants have had control of everything. Including the owners. So now Ducati does an all encompassing and tests all holds. The collective. The consumers. The racers. The wannas. They're not only listening to all of them... they're listening to you, too. And me. And everyone who's complained about one of their products. And they, right now, are the only manufacturer 100% comitted to it.

While you'd be foolish to criticize, I wouldn't stop you. All criticisms start with inadaquacy. And I've yet to see a painted thing you couldn't point at.
