Would you choose a V4R or SP2 for trackday use?

Fair point. Do you run them? My take in this conversation is more about increasing street time.

Checking my left leg to see if I'm smoldering has left me not wanting to ride more than once. Never mind the heat rash below my left knee. If it's over 90F I just assume leave it parked.

On a track day in full leathers, I've never noticed the heat.

Agreed - panigale on the street when the temp is above 90? Fk right off. 😅

We run them - no issue with overheating on track. We did get a hole in the radiator without them.

Haven’t noticed any heat differences with or without rad guards. But after 2 trackdays, there were several spots where the radiator fins were pretty bent up from the rubber and stones. This V4 rad seems more fragile than my other bikes. I’ll keep them on for the piece of mind

Radiator guards it is then!

I used Evotech before but they don’t exactly seem to be easy to get at the moment (not that I really need them for a few months anyway).

Has anyone tried the ones from CNC Racing? They will all do the same job, I’m more interested in fitment.

Also interested in this... or Chinese ones :)

I had a read of the owner’s manual. They recommending using a lower gear where possible because it improves fuel economy and makes less noise… 🤣

Interesting that the DWC algorithm is based on using the Supercorsa SC1. I don’t remember seeing that mentioned for my current bike but maybe I didn’t notice it.

Just collected it and driving home. Zero slop in the throttle!

Hi,

Wanted to check in ask how your experience is with the R. I also have a SP2 and considering selling for the R. My considerations were that you get a ton more accessories on the SP2 such as carbon wheel, rear sets, different brake calipers and master cylinder, levers etc. The R in my opinion is basically a V4S with a different engine and dry clutch and given the price of the SP2 I find it a much better bargain over the R. Yes, you can add most of those accessories but I feel at least some should have been added at that price point. I also noticed there's many unsold new R's vs the SP2, which there are hardly any of.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Both bikes are awesome, your post sounds like bullsh|t but heres the basics, rhe R is a homologation bike for WSBK, it does not have electronic suspension and it has a 998cc engine as opposed to the S 1103. Its higher revving with a differnet power delivery and is more suited to track use. The SP is an upgraded S, with upgraded wheels, colors and a bity of bling, in terms of value most people think the SP is ok but not fantastic as you could go aftermarket on an S and spend a similar amount to get effectively the same bike apart from the Ducati specific BST wheels. But then it wouldnt have the SP moniker or resale, the R is special because its produced in smaller numbers and it's a few steps closer to track while the SP is more street and In terms of value at this price point if you are worried about dollars then the R is probably not for you

Anything you get for SP2 you can get on R, so accessories comment is false

Hi. Thanks for your comment. What you explained I am already fully aware and isn't any news to me. My point was that all you are mainly getting is different engine and dry clutch compared to the V4S because everything else is the same. That being said in my opinion it doesn't really stand out given those facts.
